Obituary of James Nicklas

James Nicklas passed away peacefully in his home, on February 1, 2015, at the age of 86. Born and raised on Long Island, NY, James enjoyed his retirement in Wallingford, VT, before moving to Denville just a few weeks ago. James was a proud Air Force Veteran, and was deeply dedicated to the Catholic Church and his family. He was an active Rotarian for many years, a past Officer, Paul Harris Fellow and most recently a member of the Wallingford Vermont Rotary Club. He was also a member of the Nassau County Obstetrical & Gynecological Association, practicing OB/GYN in Glen Cove, NY for over 40 years with his medical partner and lifelong friend, Dr. Henry G. Reinhardt. James was an incredibly kind and giving man that enjoyed volunteering his services, especially on Indian Reservations and at the Rutland, VT Dismas House. He was a cherished friend to so many people and has left a legacy of love and laughter for all who knew him. James is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Muriel; his adored children James Nicklas and wife Wenmin, Theresa Nicklas and husband Bob Reimers, Kathryn Gull and husband Anthony, Patricia Enright and husband William, and Jeanne Sargent; his cherished grandchildren Billy, Michael, Tucker, Carly, Ryan, Sean and Lyanne; his sister Judith Davis and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother F. Joseph Nicklas. A Funeral Mass was held privately at Saint Francis Chapel, Denville, NJ. Interment at Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, NY.
