Jim's wife, Muriel, and I have been closest friends since our early teens. It was a heavenly gift when she and Jim fell in love. Their warm, generous, caring lives have been perfect matches for each other. And, they have been great role models for others touched by them. Jim is the only physician I have known to take "vacations" from practice to provide medical assistance on Indian Reservations with his like-minded Muriel by his side.

Jim had a really great smile & his chuckling laugh distinctive when he was truly amused! He was one of the nicest men Billy & I have ever met -- Compassionate, funny, honest and kind. We are blessed to have ever known him.

We never had an opportunity to speak with Dr. Nicklas but saw him on numerous occasions walking the Gull's dogs on the block. Kathy, our neighbor, loved and respected her dad so much! Our thoughts are with you all during this sad time.
