Upon his honorable discharge, he was awarded the Bronze Star as well as National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and an Army Expert Marksmanship Badge for Rifle M-14. With his knowledge of engineering from the U.S. Army, he became a Mechanical Engineer, starting his company Independent Machine Co., currently located in Fairfield.
