Mary R. Byrne, of Denville, passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 1, 2019. She was 87 years young.

Born in Orange to the late John and Charlotte Dourney, she was one of six children. She was raised in West Orange and graduated from West Orange High School. She married, William Byrne and resided in Livingston NJ. Together they had 6 children. Mary relocated to the Rainbow Lakes section of Denville in 1983. She made a successful career for herself working at Chubb Institute in Parsippany. She was an active member of the Institute for Spiritual Development in Sparta where she made many lifelong friendships. Mary was a skilled painter, enjoyed yoga, meditation, taking walks and being by the ocean. She lived her life to the fullest, enjoying every moment, she was an inspiration to all that knew her. Above anything else, she was a devoted mother, a dedicated grandmother and great-grandmother, a caring sister, loving aunt and loyal friend. We will always remember her homemade cards for every special occasion, her infectious smile, and unconditional love that she gave to all. She will be sorely missed and forever treasured in our hearts and memories.

Predeceased by her husband, William in 1978, her sons, William and his wife Barbara, Timothy and Kevin, her cherished granddaughter Mellissa and her siblings, Jack, Charlie, Doris and Claire, she leaves only joyful memories to her loving children, Kathleen Lennon and her husband James, Sharon Cox and her husband Dr. Howard, and Maureen Bauer and her husband Russell W. Bauer III; daughter in law Jill Byrne, her cherished grandchildren, Tracy, Jessica, Bo, Melissa, Heather, Sean, Aubrey, William, Melissa B., Katie, Nicole, Brittany, Nicole B., and Tyler; her treasured great-grandchildren, Jacob, Brianna, Layna, Jimmy, Sophie, Sammy, Kaiya, Abby, Finn, Emma, and Madison; her caring sister, Janet Burns; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
