Obituary of Barbara Ann Mulhearn
Barbara Ann Mulhearn, of Rockaway Township, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover. She was 67 years young.
Barbara was born to make an impression in this world! She set high standards as a mother, a teacher and an educational leader. She did this whole-heartedly with a flair and boldness that was uniquely her own. She had a very successful thirty year career working in several school districts in NJ. Barbara found her niche in the Passaic School District as a K-3 classroom teacher before moving onto the role of a literacy coach. Her motivation and personal passion for learning enabled her to earn two Masters’ degrees and multiple certifications while teaching and raising her family.
During her lifetime, Barbara motivated and assisted anyone she came across. She was always the one to turn to for advice. You could always rely that her guidance would be heartfelt and completely honest and she was always right! She had a way of making every situation better, turning any negative into a positive, and every experience into an adventure. Her stories were legendary! Anyone who had the honor of knowing Barbara is a better person for it. Above anything else, her family came first, especially her grandchildren. Her legacy of unconditional love, laughter, and true friendship will continue to live on in our hearts for generations to come. We will be forever grateful for the privilege of having known her.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Theodore in 2005, she is survived by her devoted daughters, Amy Christine Mulhearn and Katie Ann Serraino, her son-in-law Nicholas Serraino; her treasured grandchildren, Brenna, Kayla, Gavin, Theodore, and Emma; her loving siblings, Linda (Smith) Wilson and her husband Timothy, Albert Smith, Jr. and his wife Accella, and Charles Smith and his wife Babette. Barbara’s extended family includes nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Public Visitation will take place on Monday, January 21st from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ. Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, January 22nd at 10 am at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. Barbara will be buried alongside her husband, Teddy. Memorial Donations may be made to Bridge of Books https://
