Grief, like the ocean, comes in waves
only to recede and come yet, again.
But with it comes healing. Memories wash
ashore and are bathed by the golden sun.
Grab hold of those memories and let them
fill the emptiness. We'll always remember
the good times with Barbara at the shore.

It goes without saying that having you as my friend was one of the brightest of my "silver linings". The hours we spent talking, the weeks we spent exploring the world, and the months we hung out at the pool were just the outward signs of our friendship. The ease with which we connected, the sharing of our memories, plans, fears, & hopes, and the honest way we always approached each other were the deep, abiding basis of our friendship. I will be forever grateful for that friendship! You'll always be in my heart, Mulhearn

Oh how I loved when your mom came to teach at School 6. She became such a dear friend. I never laughed so much or so hard. She also taught me so much about being a great teacher. There isn’t a day that passes that I don’t use something she shared with me. I miss her already. I love you Barb.

I’ll forever be grateful for the time shared with Barb. She wasn’t only a dear friend, but my mentor as a first year teacher. We often shared lunch breaks planning fun activities that taught our first graders how to fall in love with learning. She was generous with her time and she coached me in so many positive ways! Mulhearn also loved to balance work and play, whether it was motivating me to work on a masters degree or signing up for as many workshops that were free! I loved attending workshops with her. My fondest memories will be of the times spent taking trips and meeting for dinners with Barb and Rosie. I’ll forever cherish these moments.

Going to put the same sentiments here as on Ted's page as it reflects my feelings for both losses.
I wouldn't know where to start to share the memories of the times spent with Ted and Barbara. Above all, I remember the laughter. Always seemed Barb had a great "Ted" story and would tell it in a way only she could. Times at the pond, back to the house for BBQ's, sitting on the porch of a local restaurant. Seemed we were always doing something fun together. They were family to me. Watched each other's children grow up. My children absolutely loved Aunt Barbara and Uncle Big. They were part of our family celebrations, especially when Ariel graduated Marine Corps and we had a celebration. She and Ted had much to talk about and share. Our hearts were broken when we lost Ted, and now just 14 years later, we feel the same pain in losing Barbara. Didn't see each other much as circumstances kept changing for both of us, but kept in touch when we could. I am shocked and terribly saddened to lose such a generous, goodhearted, funny and true friend. My condolences to the girls and their families. And somewhere up above, I hear Barb, with that smile on her face, gently scolding Ted for something or other!

There are too many memories and thoughts to go through, so I'll keep it simple. Thank you Barb. Thank you for letting the little girl from the red house run down the hill, walk into your house without a knock, rummage through your fridge and then grin when you walked into the kitchen shaking your head. You were without a doubt my second mom. I love you and Ted. And as painful as it is to say goodbye a part of me is smiling knowing the two of you are together again.

My deepest condolences and sympathies to the Barbara's family. I was her Paraprofessional back in September and October 1999 at No. 6 school. It was such a pleasure working for Barbara. Loved being her Para and helping her teach the kids with their learning and arts and crafts. I enjoyed the field trips too with Barbara.
I learned at lot being a Paraprofessional in Barbara Mulhearn's class. I was shocked to see she had passed and so very sorry to hear. May she Rest In Peace. You were a wonderful teacher and coach. Barbara will be missed.
Most Sincerely,
Barbara Ann Hatchette
