Obituary of Dr. Richard C. Wagner
Dr. Richard C. Wagner, of Morris Plains, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Chatham Hills Subacute Care Center in Chatham. He was 77 years young.
Born in Orange to the late John and Marguerite Wagner, he was one of three children. After graduating High School, he went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree from Rutgers University and his Master’s Degree and PhD from University of Chicago. He was a very intelligent man and his passion was Mathematics. For 50 years, he was a Mathematics Professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University where he was highly respected. Richard was very focused, knowledgeable, and perspicacious in his profession. Faculty and students alike will sorely miss him. He was a member of the American Mathematician Society. When he was not at the college, you could find him spending time with family or working on the genealogy of his family tree. He was truly one of a kind and will remain in our hearts for an eternity.
Predeceased by his parents, step-mom Jeanette, and brothers, James Wagner and Ronald Swan, he leaves only joyful memories to his adored sister, Carol Jaquith and her husband Martin; his brother, Kenneth Swan and his wife Helen; his sisters-in-law, Corinne Wagner and Barbara Swan; his loving nieces and nephews, Robert “Bob” Swan, Steven Swan, Annmarie Swan Ledett, Donald Swan, Patty Swan Perna, Kenneth Swan, Jr., John Jaquith, Jennifer Jaquith Pandolfo, Julie Jaquith Weber, Abbie Wagner Bender, David Wagner, Lindsay Wagner Lloyd, Ronald Swan, Jr., Suzanne Swan, William “Billy” Swan, the late Donna Swan, David Swan, Carl Swan, and Michael Swan; his caring cousin, Susan (the late Timothy) Savage; and many grand-nieces, grand-nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family and friends.
