Jay’s family: I'm so sorry for your loss. I went through a similar situation and I was very helped by the hope that I found in the Bible in John 5: 28, which says, "Do not amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I am sending you a link with more information on this hope. https://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/wp20140101/

To the Bartolotta family my deepest sympathies to your family. I have been blessed to have gotten to know Jay at work and was so saddened by the news. Jay and I would frequently leave at the end of the work day with the announcement that it was "Miller Time" which usually included an imaginary raise of the glass. I will always remember him fondly for this, here's to you Jay.

We have known Jay & Ellen and their family through many BBQs, cigars, drinks and laughter with shared friends and neighbors. Jay was a good soul with a great sense of humor, which could go wicked, but not unkind. He was a very intelligent and witty man, always fun and amusing. I know he will be terribly missed by everyone, mostly by his dear family. He was a total family man and they always had his heart and support.

Ellen,
Losing a spouse sucks. My heart goes out to you in a big way. It has been three and a half years since my husband, Larry, died. His cancer lasted 18 months before it killed him. During that time Larry joined the Catholic Church, tried to continue walking the dog, daily at the Lake Michigan beach and in the forested sand dunes, He carved his last pumpkin, continued attending family holidays, went winter camping, and watched T.V. with me. He tried the best he could to continue living. Larry celebrated his 64th Birthday on Christmas Eve and he took his last breath on December 28th, 2014.
I spent this afternoon reading sympathy cards, some of which were still in the envelopes. It took me that long to be ready to accept the sad fact that I am now a Widow.
I am also a "Mom/Dad" parent to my 20 year old daughter. I am still giving away my husband's stuff. I donated 5 pairs of Larry's kaki pants to a man at church just this morning. So, Ellen only do your "letting go" when YOU are ready, no matter how long it takes. It is your grief---do it your way.
Please accept my sincerest sympathy. Jean McMahon Martinelli

My deepest sympathy to all the Bartolotta family. His love of family, food and his choice of what to have on his Friday night; with his wife Ellen were always a topic I loved to engage in. Jay was a sarcastic SOB but that's probably why we got along so well. Each and every morning when I arrived at work, I'd look for his car. Until Monday I still expected him to show up. He really enjoyed coming to work and Jay will surely be missed here at the office.

I am so sorry for your loss. I just knew Jay since joining New York Forwarding Services in 2015. However, I enjoyed talking sports with him as well as depending on his shipping expertise. He was definitely a life-force here in our company. Keith Nostrant, President, Air Division

Ellen, Jon, Sarah, Abby, and Andrew,
I can't tell you all how sorry I am for the passing of Jay. I grew up with your entire family, in particular with Jon, and remember how nice and funny Jay was. My heart and prayers go out to the entire family. On a personal note, Jon, we were the best of friends through middle and high school and our families were so close with one another. Although time passes by and we lose touch, I've never forgotten the great memories we shared and the close friendship I valued. I love you all and Jay will be greatly missed.

Ellen, Sara, Abby, Jon, and Andrew,
Our hearts and souls go out to you. We met you guys in 1984 and have remained friends. I remember the flowers that Ellen brought over to my house.
We remember all the good times we had with Jay - going to the beach, BBQ's, baseball and the good times we had afterwards and the good conversations. All the dinners at each other's houses.
May God bless Jay and we know that he is at peace now.
Love,
Val and Jerry
