Obituary of William G. Howarth, Sr.

William G. Howarth, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, October 5th. He shared 89 years of love, laughter and service with his family and community. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 12th at 10:30 am Church of The Saviour, 155 Morris Ave., Denville. Interment with Military Honors to follow at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, October 11th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave. Donations in his memory by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org may be made to the Denville VFW or to Church of The Saviour. . Please share your memories with his family at www.normandean.com Born in Albany to the late William and Julia, Bill was one of 3 sons. As a young man he enlisted and proudly served his country with the US Navy during WWII. Upon his honorable discharge he lived in Newark and then settled in Denville where he has resided since 1963. Bill worked for the Dept. of Transportation for many years. He was a lifetime parishioner of Church of The Saviour, longtime member and twice Commander of the Denville VFW and active with the Shoot The Breeze Men’s Club. A longtime member of Peace Pipe, Bill loved a round of golf. At home, he read often, completed countless NY Times crosswords and cheered on his beloved NY Giants and NY Mets. Above all; he loved his family and his church. His faith was most important to him. His gifts of love, generosity and kindness give all who knew him much to celebrate. Predeceased by his first wife Betty Lou and his brother Richard; he is survived by his dear son and daughter in law Bill Jr. and Susan; loving wife Maxine of 22 years; Maxine’s children Tanis (Guy), Tara (Pete) and Richard (Chere); his brother Edward; grandchildren Julia, Ian and Richard and many dear nieces, nephews, fellow Veterans and dear friends
