Obituary of Charles E. Pilger
Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charles Pilger, 69, passed away suddenly on Monday, April 6, 2015 at his home in Stockholm.
Born and raised in Jersey City, he was a Stockholm resident for 41 years. It was there that he raised his three girls with his soulmate and best friend, Ellen. Charlie, an Army Veteran, proudly served in the Vietnam War stationed in Germany. His wittiness, generosity, big heart, and thoughtfulness was unlike any other man. He was consistently ready for fun whether it was building Camp Charlie, playing games, traveling the world, or going up to Old Forge. He enjoyed taking care of people, gardening, golfing, and cooking. His main pride and joy was his family. He lived for the love of his life, Ellen, his daughters and grandchildren. He was everything to everybody.
Left to mourn his loss is his beloved wife of 47 years, Ellen (nee Mulhall); his adored daughters, Dawn Coughlin (John), Donna Brandt (Dave), and Jennifer Higgins (Patrick); his cherished grandchildren, Zane, Parker, Audrey, Gracyn, and Charlie; his caring siblings, Joyce Horan (Bill), and the late Geraldine Kane, Rose Bartsch, Alice Hartje, and Arlene Dalton; his faithful in-laws the late Bill Mulhall (Irene) and Mary Lebrecht (Caroline Griffin); his doting nieces and nephews, Kathy (Alex), Richard (LoriAnn), Karen (Tom), Harry (Kathy), Steve (Linda), Alice, the late Linda, Robert (Laurel), Sean (Krista), Patricia (the late Bob), Irene (Peter), Diane (Steven), Billy (Vicky), the late Michael, Danny (Faith), Thomas (Joanne), Connie (Bob), and Kathy (Caulden).
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 10th at 10 am at St. Mary's Church, Denville. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, April 9th from 4-9 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations in his name to March of Dimes, 20 Chapin Rd #1010, Pine Brook, NJ 07058.
