Obituary of James Henry Baker

James H. Baker, 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 24th. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 27th at 10 am at St. Mary's Church, Denville. Entombment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 26th from 3-6 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave, Denville. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to St. Vincent Martyr School, 26 Green Village Road, Madison, NJ 07940. Jim was raised on Fisher's Island, NY. After his schooling, he proudly served his country with the US Merchant Marines and the US Navy during WWII. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to the states and settled in California and later lived in Madison, NJ for over 50 years. He worked as an executive with Chubb & Son for many years. He and his wife Maria moved to Denville in 2009 where they enjoyed the company and friendship of others at Franciscan Oaks. Predeceased by his wife Maria (2012); he is survived by his children James Jr. and his wife Denise and Margaret Baker; his grandchildren Francesca Pennington (Robert) and Walter Baker; brother Richard Baker and many more loving relatives, friends and caretakers.
