Richard T. Rick McConnell, 54, died on Friday July 14, 2006 at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Clares in Dover, NJ Rick was born in Morristown but grew up in Denville the town he loved and served. He moved to Rockaway Township in 1996. He graduated from Morris Catholic HS in Denville in 1970, and went on to attend County College of Morris where he received an Assoc. Degree in Accounting in 1972. Later he attended William Paterson College in Wayne, where he earned his Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice. In 1973 he join the Denville Police Department where he had received his training at the State Police Academy in Seagirt, NJ. He had a long career working his way up through the ranks to becoming Lieutenant before retiring in 2000. He was a life member of Denville P. B. A. Local 142, where he had served as President and long time Treasurer. He was also active in Denville P.A.L. where he had served as Director and later Treasurer. He has served on the Denville Cemetery Board and has been the Treasurer since 1981 till the present. He is survived by his wife, of 26 years Leslie J. Lindsay, his three children, Lindsay, Richard Jr., and Todd all of Rockaway Township. He is also survived by his father John of Denville, his brother John Jr. of Gainesville, Fla., and his aunt Sandy McConnell of Denville.
