Phyllis Walls

Obituary of Phyllis Walls

Please share a memory of Phyllis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Phyllis Walls, wife of Pastor Ed Walls, who was called home to heaven on June 18th, 2023.

Phyllis was born to Roy and Elva Latimer in May of 1949 in Springfield, Missouri. She was raised alongside her sister, Judy, and went on to attend Baptist Bible College. It was not long after this that she met the love of her life, Ed Walls, who made her his wife in 1971. The pair soon began their own family and a fifty year journey in the ministry. As a pastor’s wife, Phyllis found her home within the church; leading women’s bible studies and singing in the church worship choir. Her family remarks that Phyllis had a beautiful singing voice, just one of the gifts God had bestowed upon her. Phyllis had such a strong faith and used it to uplift and care for her family and those around her. She loved her family endlessly and enjoyed taking trips to the beach with them whenever they got the chance. She treasured her grandchildren and even got to spend time with her first great grandchild. Phyllis’ family will always remember her as a loving wife, devoted mother and caring Nana.

And though her passing is a pain that will be felt by so many, we take comfort in knowing that she is reunited in heaven with those who went before her, including her parents, Roy and Elva Latimer. Her kindness and loving spirit will live on through her husband, Pastor Ed Walls, her children, Amy Lederer and husband, Jason, Missy Bersuch and husband, Michael, her grandchildren, Morgan Becker and husband, Shane, Ethan Lederer, Madison Ferdman and husband, Zach, Ryan Lederer, Aaron Lederer, her great grandson, Jude Becker, her sister, Judy Guise, and a wealth of extended family, friends and neighbors. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers during this time.

If you would like to contribute to Phyllis’ memory in your own way, please consider making a contribution to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF), an organization that Phyllis was passionate about in life. Donations can be made via InMemOf.org.
