Susan Betz

Obituary of Susan Betz

Please share a memory of Susan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With deep sadness and a heavy heart, we regretfully announce that our beloved mother and grandmother, Susan Betz, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family in her home on February 21st.

A lifelong resident of Rockaway, she was kind,  loving, generous, and selfless. She was an independent spirit who loved her children, friends, and most of all her grandchildren. She befriended everyone she met and treated them all as lifelong friends. She brought a smile to everyone she met, having them walk away feeling better than before.

Sue enjoyed the simple things in life, reading on her porch, listening to the birds, daily calls, and “notes” (aka texts) from family and friends. She was always planning her next luncheon with the ladies or project on her list. She was grateful for all the things she had and enjoyed life to the fullest.

Nana will be remembered for her dedication and love of her family. Whether it was phone calls, drop-in visits, or sporting events,  she was always there to listen and be your greatest supporter. Nana’s kitchen was always open, and she would stop what she was doing to make a quick snack or elaborate meal. She cherished when the family would get together for Thanksgiving and Christmas, planning the next event before the current one was even over. She laughed at all the stories told. These get togethers will be remembered by all. She also blessed her family with vacations at the shore, trips to Disney, and cruises for the grandkids.

Though her passing brings us sorrow, we take comfort in knowing that she has been reunited her husband of 38 years, Charlie, and her son Michael for whom she had been apart from and dearly missed for more than 55 years.

She leaves behind her children, Kathy Bojakowski and her partner, Jim Krug, Danny and his wife, Kim, Casey and his partner Lisa Zarb, her grandchildren: Danielle Betz and her fiancé, Shawn Hillas, Anna Bojakowski, Charlie Betz, Dylan Betz and his wife, Joselyn, James Betz,  and a wealth of friends and neighbors who will remember her dearly.

If you would like to make a condolence to a charity in honor of Sue, memorial donations are being accepted by Mary's Place by the Sea, an organization that helps support women with cancer in the New Jersey area by offering supplemental treatments and services. Donations can be made through the Memorial donations tab, or through InMemOf.org.
