Obituary of James Kelly O'Dell

James “Jamey” O`Dell passed away peacefully on February 16, 2023 in Butler, NJ after a short illness at the young age of 50. James was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

James was born and raised in Denville, NJ. He completed his education at Morris Knolls in 1990 then moved on to County College of Morris where he played hockey. After college he opened and operated his own contracting business for over 25 years. He loved hockey so much that he coached the NJ Devils Youth Hockey club for many years. Jamey brought his team to the USA Hockey nationals several times. He was also a past board member and very active in the Marcella Community Club in Rockaway Township where he gave a lot of his time helping others. Jamey enjoyed spending his time going on family vacations to Canada, doing yard work, fishing, playing the drums, and watching Devils and Yankee games.

James’s memory will live on forever through his wife Shelley for nearly 22 years. His beloved mother Linda O`Dell. His brother John O`Dell III and his wife Sheila O`Dell. His nephew John O`Dell IV and his niece Erin O`Dell. As well as many more loving family members from the O`Dell and Kluesner families. He is predeceased by his father Jack O`Dell in 2010. 

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 25th 2023, at 1PM at the Marcella Community Club, 831 Green Pond road, Rockaway Township, NJ. A graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, his Memorial Donations are being accepted in his memory to Marcella Community Club and can be made through https://inmemof.org/jamey-odell.
