Paul was one of the first people that I met at Chicago Booth on our MBA journey. I remember hitting it off immediately with him. It made even more sense when we realized that we were Jersey boys in a Midwest school.
I cherish our time together sharing stories about family, collaborating in study sessions, attending leadership development programs together, and brainstorming ideas to make the world a better place. Paul’s dedication to a meaningful positive impact was contagious and he nudged many others for good.
Words can not express how much Paul’s friendship meant to me. There is a huge space in my heart… not empty, but filled with memories of our time together. I’m blessed to have Paul in my life and thankful for every moment. Condolences to the Crooker family, and I pray you are able to find comfort in your memories with Paul.

As my older brother I always looked to Paul for advice and could always count on it. No detail was ever left out or not researched. He was the most kind-hearted gentle soul I've ever encountered. The perfect combination of passion and compassion. He had character beyond measure.
Memory
My favorite memory was as kids, when my father was on Naval Reserve and Paul had cut my hair. Dare I say all involved hoped and definitely prayed that it would grow back prior to my dad returning. It didn't.
If you ever asked his advice, he gave freely.
God has gained the most gentle soul one could ever know. .

Paul worked for me at EPRI. He was an excellent hard worker and a friend. If you wanted something done and he was assigned to do it, you can be assured it would get done right. Paul and I had many a long discussion about R&D management, company strategy and, of course ice hockey (one of his passions). My son was a goalie on a college team, so I got a lot of advice from Paul. Paul had an immense amount of engineering knowledge and was always trying to learn new things. He taught me a lot. Paul was a good friend, and I will surely miss him in my retirement. The world has truly lost "one of the original good guys."

Paul was my colleague at EPRI. Our offices were close so we would often chat about various topics. Paul had wide-ranging interests and I enjoyed our conversations. I was always impressed by Paul's calm demeanor, keen insights and good judgement. I will always remember him. My deep and heartfelt condolences to his family on their loss.

My family and I are sending our love and deepest condolences to Paul's family. I met Paul in college during Susan and my Freshman year. He was a handsome hockey player who became the love of her life. Susan and Paul were both brilliant people and she was happy to help edit his papers and support him in his career. She was proud of his many accomplishments and always spoke highly of his achievements. They are resting in heavenly peace together now and I hope this brings you comfort.

I met Paul when he joined EPRI and I frequently had lunch with him for many years. He was always kind, thoughtful, and very happy to entertain 'out-of-the-box' ideas. He had a clever sense of humor and always assumed positive intent with difficult challenges.
My condolences to the Crooker family.

For several years, Paul's office was down the hall from me. We started talking when he and I were both considering pursuing a MBA. I decided not to, in part, because I was uncertain whether I could balance school, work, and life. But Paul did, and attended the University of Chicago's Executive MBA Program. During the program, he would come into to my office, visibly excited, telling me about the lectures of Richard Thaler on behavioral economics and about meeting fellow students from all over the world... I am so sad that Paul cannot have time to pursue that excitement.

I met Paul shortly after starting at Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) as part of a carpool to the office from the East Bay Area. During those many hours of commuting over the years, we got to know each other pretty well. The range of discussions during those drives covered so many topics. He and Susan gave us a gift to celebrate the birth of one of our sons, and I always appreciated their thoughtfulness. I always thought that Paul was the type of guy you wanted on your team, because he was easy going, sharp, a thinker, had a dry sense of humor, and would always provide alternate perspectives and ways to look at things that a group might not always think of. And he would always tell it to you like it was, candidly, which is needed more in the corporate world!
I thought it was pretty amazing that he pursued his MBA mid-career at one of the most prestigious business schools in the U.S. He told me he was doing it for "enrichment!" It showed his willingness to always be learning and seeking new perspectives.
I definitely learned a few things from Paul during our shared time together at EPRI, to say the least.
My family and I send our heartfelt condolences to the Crooker family.

Paul was one of my best friends. I met him in 1987 during graduate school at Stevens Institute of Technology. Paul, Jay Sanyal, and I became fast friends. He had a way of putting you at ease and making you feel good about yourself. Spending time with him was just a great experience. He was very bright and a talented engineer and made great contributions to the energy industry throughout his impressive career. To say that I miss him would be an understatement. I offer my most sincere condolences to his family and this photo of us together at his brother Richard’s house. I’m very glad we had that time together.

Paul and I go back almost thirty years working side-by-side first at Foster Wheeler and later at Electric Power Research Institute. He made an immeasurable impact on my career by delivering innovative solutions to engineering problems we faced together. We played golf and traveled the world while meeting our clients. Susan, Paul and I often had dinners at our favorite restaurants in California. Very fond memories. I will forever be grateful for having him as my learned colleague and a dear friend.
My heartfelt condolences to his brothers and sister. He was a kindhearted gem and will be missed.

Paul was one of my best friends for 33 years. I met him first at Stevens where we shared an office. He taught me to do the NYT crossword puzzle and he and I spent countless hours solving the world's problems along with our friend Mehmet. Paul and Susan visited us in NH and we went up to the top of Mt Washington. Paul was a force of life and an inspiration to me. May his soul rest in peace. Bye brother, you will be forever in our hearts!
