Walter Mayer posted a condolence

Walter (Dubs) & Franklin (Bean) Mayer, Been blessed to have known Fred and his family for 45+ years. Our relationship began with our mutual appreciation for all things automotive, and grew to be so much more. Freds interest in cars was varied, and included the model T. But Fred was a model A man to the core. His famous blue 1929 Fordor , owned since his college days. Was driven all over the USA, to countless model A and other old car events, plus, tens of thousands miles of just regular road use. A couple summers ago, Fred and myself built a hopped up model B engine for this car,,,, I will always cherish the memories of our last model A Ford project together. Freds daughter, and my son, were born within hours of each other. Mayby life, or just timing, interfered, but, I never got to know her as much as I would have liked. Same with Freds young grand daughter Evelyn, whom Fred, I know, absolutely addored. I am lucky and proud to say that Jan Vanderhoof, Freds wife of 50 years, and Tim Vanderhoof, Freds son and prodigy, are my close friends. Both have those same traits that I love about Fred, Love and care, smart and a great sense of humor. Trusting in God and Gods will. Fred was great, and will be sorely missed by all , who knew and loved him,,,,,,,Love DUBS,,,,

Fred's family, So sorry to hear of Fred's passing, Fred was a was a wonderful neighbor and friend. Enjoyed working with him when he worked for the Denville Board of Education, hard worker and loyal to his position. When Fred would drive pass our house after visiting his parents he would "toot" his model T car horn. Deepest Sympathy, Fran & Frank Lowry

Freddie touched so many lives in the very best way. We are so grateful to have had the chance to know him as a friend and school mate. Freddie and I were friends from elementary school through high school and he shared his friendship with everyone. He helped me pass history. He so loved his family and sharing his Model T Ford with us. Freddie will always be fondly remembered and be truly missed.

Fred's death is a sad loss for our family. He became my brother-in-law fifty years ago when he married my sister, Janice. He was a welcomed addition to our family and easily fit in. He was kind and generous. He was always interested in our lives and, over time, those of our children and grandchildren. He encouraged me in my goal to become a teacher, especially when I transferred to Kirksville! When my brothers and I were younger, Fred and Jan included us in their vacations. They introduced us to the National Park system and Fred tutored us in US history. Fred's enthusiasm about geography and history will always be a part of my memories, along with the all of the pictures he took! Fred shared his treasured Model A Ford with us when we were able to visit NJ-what fun it was to hear him describe his passion. Above all, Fred loved and was proud of his family. He was a genuine model of the Christian life. He will be missed very much. May God provide love and peace.

I am saddened to read of Fred's passing. He was a true friend of my dad who valued Fred's loyalty, decision making, and wisdom when he served as Denville School System's Board Secretary. My dad always spoke fondly of this genuinely good man who never "blew his own horn", but preferred to work unselfishly without flaunting his expertise. Dad called him "a man of integrity." May he rest in peace.

Please accept my condolences on the loss of "Freddie" Vanderhoof as we knew him growing up in Denville. Frederick was among the members of the first class to graduate from Morris Knolls in 1966 along with my brother. They were classmates throughout their school careers in Denville. He will be missed.

Please accept my sincere condolences. I remember when Fred worked in Netcong School System, always helpful and caring. My Mom (Marion O'Brien Rush) thought he was the greatest School Board Secretary that Netcong ever had, as she was right.
May his memory be a blessing.

It is with a heavy heart that I post this message. Gordon and I are so sorry to learn of Fred's passing. Fred was a wonderful father, husband and grandfather. I, personally, will miss all of Fred's photos that he would send me from the many trips and excursions that the Model A Ford Club went on. He was such a delightful man who truly enjoyed his involvement in the Model A club. Our sincere sympathy is extended to his entire family at this stressful time. May he rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Fred.
I will miss his joyful banter announcing the items available at our Model A Ford club meetings.
I will also always be grateful for his advice professionally whenever I needed it in my field.
As well as for supplying us with a 1928 Model A phaeton body my family bought from him.
But most of all I'll miss his cheerful disposition whenever we chatted.
My condolences to the Vanderoof family.
