Chief King hired me in 1973 and was my Chief for 7 years. He was always honest, humble, and considerate. He always loved Denville and the Department. My condolences to his family who have been blessed by his long life. Retired Chief Steve Boepple.

Met the Chief through Doug Erwin . Moved to Town and needed my Firearms ID card address changed. The Chief signed the card for me. We talk a bit both being police officers. He and I knew Chief Voltz who had been the Director of Police here in Denville back in the 60’s Then later I would see him at church and Town . Always the Gentleman. May he Rest In Peace.

As Don's obituary states, he was a true gentleman and role model, just like his father before him. My dad considered both of them dear friends. Ed King worked for the Denville Board of Education for many years, a loyal man with many skills. His son, Don, inherited all of his dad's wonderful traits. When my father's health was failing, it was Don who assisted him at every Thursday buffet Denville Rotary luncheon. He was my dad's special angel whose help allowed him to attend his final year of Rotary with dignity. Thank you, Don. You have earned your angel wings!

Chief, It was an honor to be your nurse. You bought me light on my darkest days and your sense of humor was one of a kind. It’s patients like you that make this job rewarding. To all; the King's Growing Up in Denville meant getting to know "Chief King". As a youngster that mean a "stop and chat" if you were riding your bike in the wrong direction of traffic. As an young member of the DFD it meant a profound thank you for your service when ever encountered on a call or in town hall even after mass at St Mary's. Will remember always his faith and volunteerism. A good man for sure. I am sure there was a large contingent at the gates of heaven to great "Chief" and welcome him to the Chior of Denville Angels. Hold onto your memories they are important. RiP Chief King you earned your wings a long time ago. God must have needed you on the softball field this week.
