Obituary of Barbara H. Freeman
Barbara Helen Freeman passed following a brief illness on Wednesday, June 22, 2022. She shared 83 years of love, faith, and joy with family and friends, and everyone who was blessed to have known her carries unforgettable memories. She was born in Queens, New York to the late Pauline and Martin Hjort, and she grew up in a thriving neighborhood. After graduating from John Adams High School, she attended City College of New York before marrying and starting her family. She was soon the mother of four, and she always worked hard to ensure her children grew up in a loving and nurturing home. She ensured her children would be able to attend college, and she provided for her family by working as a waitress before finding her long time career as a pharmacy technician with Rite Aid. She was very social and enjoyed meeting and chatting with all her “customers.”
Barbara loved spending quality time with her friends and family, making memories together. She loved to travel and was fortunate to spend time in many beautiful destinations, including Egypt, which was one of her favorite places. She spent a month there with her daughter, soaking up culture and history as she explored the desert, the Pyramids, and the Nile River.
She was independent, resilient, loving, selfless, and compassionate. She had a delightful sense of humor, and she enjoyed hearing a good joke and watching funny movies. In addition to traveling, she loved going out for a good meal, spending time with her family, and getting dolled up and heading out for the day, always wearing a fresh manicure. She loved to brag about her grandson Danny, aka “Smarty Pants,” and she was overjoyed to watch his college graduation in May. She had a deep faith in God and was baptized in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She leaves her children, Susan Arnold, Lisa Lundberg, Linda Yarosh, and Robert Freeman; her six grandchildren; her grandpups and grandcat; and many relatives, friends, neighbors, and congregants.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 1, 2022 from 2-6 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville NJ 07834. A Funeral Service will begin at 6 o'clock that evening.
