Our memories of Joe begin with the MCCEA, the NEA conventions in many cities, and the beginning of the Beer Caucus before it had a booth to sell T-shirts. We used to sneak around on the floor of the conventions selling the shirts. We shared many lunches, dinners, and parties during those years. We even enjoyed a beautiful trip down Route 1 in California after one of the west coast conventions. I believe there was even a launching of a beer can (empty) from an outside table with helium balloons answering the age old physics question, "How many balloons does it take to lift a can of beer?". Good times, good friends, and good memories! We love you Joe.

I've known Joe since our days at Frelinghuysen Jr. School in 1968. He taught science and I taught mathematics. We moved on to Morristown High School in 1972 where Joe taught advanced courses in science and AP Physics. He was my best friend.
Joe was an extraordinarily talented teacher which was one of his many, many skills, including carpentry and mechanics. He was also a very gifted leader and served as President of the Morris Twp. Ed. Assoc and later president of the Morris County Educators. As a retiree, He was treasurer of the Morris County Retired Educators' Assoc.
Most of all, Joe was a great, great friend - dependable, honest, humorous, compassionate and wise. Whether we saw or spoke to one another frequently or infrequently our relationship remained solid.
I miss ya Joe! Your spirit lives on.

I came to know Joe via his license plate, "F is MA", which without a long explanation, was the basis for my career.
Joe and I would meet for lunch Tuesdays, where we would talk about how stodgy old Volvos could be great race cars and Triumphs made great sports cars but no matter how well kept they were, they always returned to the earth in a pile of rust.
Over the years, I came, with great affection, to know Joe as a person who could not be disliked. Joe was always the one who was kind, intelligent, deferential, thoughtful of others. Joe's passing was one of life's sad surprises and although our friendship was just lunch on Tuesdays, he truly made my life better. I'll always miss Joe.
