To George’s family,
I’m so sad to hear of George’s passing. As his next-door neighbor at his Cape May home, I count myself lucky to have known him. He was kind to my children and we had plenty of conversations about animals and bees and gardening. He will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry to hear about George. He was an awesome guy. Loved being around him. Also, the bond between Paul and George was amazing. My husband, Fred Heider played “Risk” with George, Tom, and Scott. He will be missed by his family and the many friends he made. Carol Heider

We have so many fond memories of George, our friend and brother in law. He was always tinkering with things, especially cars. On one of his early cars - he may still have been a teenager, he rigged the headlights so he could use them to ‘wink’ at girls as he drove past.
And then as a father, putting his ingenuity to work building and tweaking things to help Paul. He was always watching the weather, hoping it would be good to drive to Katie’s many soccer games in his MGB, with his cap on and the hood down. Oh, and getting anyone and everyone to stand on his huge surfboard in Rainbow Lake as he gave it a gentle push! So many good memories of this incredible man, a lifetime’s worth. We love and miss you, George.

I met George for the first time when we were basting meat over a barbecue at a backyard wedding party in Reno, NV. We laughed then, and that will always be my memory of this gentle giant, always smiling, always kind. Since then, I've had the pleasure of getting to know him and his beautiful wife, Ree, over the years. They even hosted me at their lovely home in Cape May, NJ. While he will be deeply missed by many of his family and friends, his legacy of laughter, kindness and service will live on. May you rest in peace. - Allie Almario

George was a great brother and brother-in-law. He will always be remembered as a kind and loving person. We were so lucky to have shared so many memories and wonderful times together... holidays, birthdays, and all the gatherings in between like the pancake breakfast at the fire house as well as our children getting to grow up together. He always made us smile and definitely made a good drink... cheers to George who will truly be missed especially on the golf course. Love, Wayne and Chris

This photo from Thanksgiving (around 1997) really embodies my Uncle George and who he was... always looking over others and always taking care of others. Now he will look down on all of us and will continue to live on through all of our memories of him. He will forever be in my heart and always on my mind. Love, Trisha

My Uncle George was an amazing person who was always thoughtful, kind, and generous. He loved being around people and getting the chance to help others whenever he could. Growing up with him as my uncle was such a blessing. He was an important part of my life from all the moments we shared like birthdays, holidays, swimming in the lake or our pool, the ticklish spot on the wall, silver dollars behind our ears, and as I got older I enjoyed his signature apricot sour drink. Every day as I walk into my classroom, a part of my uncle will always be there with me as I am reminded of his ability to craft things so easily and all the pieces of furniture or "cubes" that he made for me so that my students would have a place to store their artwork. He always said to me that we should go into business together and make more! I am honored to call him my uncle and will always cherish the wonderful moments we had together. Love always, Trisha

I have many fond childhood memories of visiting Rainbow Lakes with my parents, Warren and Diane Heber. Ice skating, fishing, swimming, etc with George and Rea. My Dad playing cards with George and Wayne (Pinnacle I think). Family parties at the firehouse. George was the kindest man. When my father fell ill and was in the hospital, George and Paul would visit my Dad and were there for help and support which I have always been thankful to both of them for. RIP George and say hello to my parents up there. To Rea and Katie: I will keep you all in my thoughts during this difficult time and I'm so sorry for your loss. Regards, Jennifer Heber Mahoney

My Uncle was the most generous and genuine person I know. You can see the love he has for me, and so many others, even though I was babbling nonsense lol. I never felt judged by him. He always gave me unconditional love. Majority of my fun childhood memories Involved him, whether at the lake fishing, swimming, ice skating, or in the paddle boat, parties at the club house, BBQ in the backyard, every single holiday especially memorial day, walks around the lake, driving to see Christmas lights, and drives in his MG, trips to the zoo or to hooter, watching my cousins Paul in special Olympics or Katie at soccer games, bumpy rides in the back of the van, hearing his fire scanner, being held up high to the sky in the pool or on the floor of the den, and trips to cape may. It goes on and on. I was a single mom until My oldest daughter hannah as 4.5 but she never felt alone or without a father because in addition to my dad, she had uncle George. He nicknamed her happy hannah and she was the oldest of the little cousins. I was always amazed at the love he had for her as she was his granddaughter too. I wish the rest of my little ones had a chance to know him the same but they did know the same love. He truly loved each and every one (I have 5) just the same as hannah and each other and for that I'll be forever grateful. He was always asking me to bring them to cape may snd I regret being nervous because they're a bit much being so young and all so close in age. Thankfully we got to spend one last time all together this past summer and have the best memories. I will miss my uncles big hands and huge hugs as well as his comforting voice and laugh. I'm relieved he isn't suffering and that he gets to be with my cousin Paul. I love you uncle George, thank you for loving me
