Family condolences. I knew Sal through my mom Sandy Daniel. He was her divorce attorney some 30+ years ago. Sal was a decent human. I’m so sad for the loss. Here is an email communication from 2021

Dear Alicia,
It’s a Monday, five days from New Year’s, and I finally have a few minutes to sit down and get you out an e-mail. Of course, it’s cold and everyone in North New Jersey is awaiting the rain that’s been predicted for the past and a half, but I’m happy to use this to let you in on what’s going on here in the Land of the Turnpike, Expressway and Parkway….
Christmas Day was quiet, much more so than unusual. My brother and his family moved recently from NNJ following his retirement from a GM dealership, and the door didn’t slap him on his way out. He was working for a number of dealerships for decades, and he was just burned out. Nothing wrong with that, the way I look at it; he’s 2 years younger than me (which makes him 2 years younger than dirt!), and he’s entitled to his retirement.
My sister lives outside Atlanta, and she’s getting ready to move once again; the recent death of her Significant Other predicated that change. She’s been living in Georgia for a l-o-n-g while, so she’ll probably rent a new place and remain there.
My godson and his younger brother and sister flew down to see their parents at the parents’ new place, located gods-only-know-where somewhere near Sarasota. My brother and my sister-in-law grew collectively tired of (in no particular order) taxes in NJ; the long commutes to/from work and the constant traffic volume; the snow and ice and all the fun they bring; and the proximity to New York City (a city they despise like cancer).
The past few paragraphs were my roundabout way of telling you that one of the reasons it was so quiet around this joint was that the phone wasn’t shrieking all day long. Not to fret, though----I watched some documentaries I’d taped a while back, and that was quite enough to keep my brain above idling speed for a good part of the day.
I’d be lying to you, lady, if I were to tell you that the absence of my partner didn't cause pain like a singularity in my heart and my head. To be quite honest with you, I’m going to have to get used to holidays like this Christmas, if only because I don’t see any reasonable probability that I or my circumstances will change in the mileage I’ve got left in my personal odometer. If I’m lucky, I’ll be able to acclimate myself to what my life will be like on future Christmases, as well as the other future 364 days of each year. In other words: just keep on keepin’ on, as a song from the 60s went.
Jesus H. Tapdancing Christ, I’ve taken up a lot of your time with this missive! Time for me to fix some supper, watch the news and dip into my taped shows for a bit tonight. Please take the best care of you possible----as the CDC has been known to say, this omicron variant is a real bitch----and let me hear from you when you have a chance.
Happy New Year!
Love,
Sal

Penny Foskit posted a condolence

Hello, my name is Penny Foskit. I doubt that any of you probably even know who I am. Sal and I met as we represented our colleges at the model United Nations in the early 70s. We became friends at that conference and remained friends throughout the years. He was like a big brother to me. We were in continual communication for close to 50 years. He was my sounding board and my voice of reason as they say. We probably only saw each other in person five times over the years but I felt that our bond of friendship was extremely strong. My last communication with him was in February where he told me about not feeling well. After sending him a birthday greeting this month and not hearing back, I knew something was wrong. I located this obituary. And cried. I have certainly lost a very important person in my life. As you know, he was extremely special. There was no one in this world quite like him, his compassion, his crazy sense of humor! My most sincere condolences to everyone in his family he will certainly be greatly missed.
