Obituary of Jack Harrigan
Jack (John) Harrigan, 63, passed away on December 10, 2021, after a courageous and dignified battle with Multiple System Atrophy, a devastating disease. Born in Jersey City, Jack spent most of his formative years in Parsippany. He attended Parsippany H.S., where he was voted "class friendliest", as well as achieving All State status as a soccer athlete, and excelling on the golf team.
Jack graduated from Boston College, with a BA in Management, where he met his soul mate and wife Carol Simon, to whom he was married for 37 years. He leaves her behind, as well as his beloved children, Liam and Patrick, and grandson Kayden, whom he cherished dearly.
In his outgoing manner, Jack never met a stranger, and excelled as a salesman in Manhattan and Berkeley Heights at Unisys Corporation. He was later the co-founder of his own business, Radiant Resources, which he owned for 21 years.
Jack was a scratch golfer known throughout Morris County, having won multiple club championships at the Knoll Country Club and Fiddlers Elbow Country Club, and he served as a chair on the Annual Dope Open golf committee for years. He had a great love for children, volunteering as an assistant basketball coach and Boy Scout leader at St. Mary’s Prep in Denville. Jack enjoyed meeting new people, the outdoors, travelling, reading, magic, and joke telling. He especially cherished the thirty plus years of Christmas, Holiday, and Birthday memories and celebrations held with extended family at the log cabin he helped construct on Skaneateles Lake in NY state, as well as spending time at his summer home at Beaver Lake, NJ.
Besides his wife, children, and grandson, Jack leaves behind his siblings, Brian (Debbie) and Maura. He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Marie, and a sister, Margaret.
Additionally, he will be missed by his lovingly close sisters and brothers in law Mary (Jim) Bright, Nancy (Rob) Moran, and Helene (Terry) Fenlon, with whom he shared many memories participating in fun and frolic all over the world. Although dispersed throughout the country, they made it a point to be present for Jack during his illness. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and so many friends that we are unable to count.
A grateful thanks goes out to the very special family and friends who were here consistently with Jack in the years throughout his struggle. It meant the world to him. We will remember your commitment and kindness forever.
