Obituary of Jean Marie Brown
Jean Marie Brown passed away peacefully on Monday, January 4, 2021 at Merry Heart Assisted Living in Succasunna. She had shared 72 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and amazing memories with family and friends.
Born in Honesdale, PA to the late Russell and Patricia Walter, she was one of two girls to bless the Walter household. Within a few years of the girls being born, the Walter family relocated to Rockaway Boro, where Jean has lived ever since. After graduating High School, Jean married her 8th grade sweetheart, true soulmate, and best friend, Henry I. Brown. Together they remained in Rockaway Boro to raise their family. Jean worked for over 25 years at A&P in Denville as a Cashier. It was there that she made many lifelong friendships. Jean was a people person; that coupled with her vivacious personality and genuine and compassionate nature made her an irresistible person to love. She always looked on the bright side and kept her head held high with a beautiful smile, although throughout her life she faced many challenges and hardships. Other than spending time with her family, Jean loved country music and collecting Longaberger baskets and precious moments. She truly was a phenomenal wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved husband, Henry, her adored son, Tommy, and her parents.
She leaves a lifetime of priceless memories to her loving children, Russell W. Brown and his wife Kim, Robert Brown and his wife Jill, and Sheri Pittaro and her husband Jaime; her treasured grandchildren, Patrick, Shannon, Bobby, and Kaylie; her caring sister, Joan (the late Tony) Colicchio; and many more extended family members and dear friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 9th at 11:30 am at St. Cecilia Church, 90 Church Street, Rockaway. Burial will follow at St. Cecilia Cemetery, Rockaway. Public Walkthrough Visitation will be held on Friday, January 8th from 4 – 8 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Memorial Donations are being accepted by way of www.inmemof.org to the American Cancer Society or the Dementia Society of America. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Jeannie here to continue to celebrate the phenomenal life she endowed to us.
