Obituary of Steven Craig Idler

Please share a memory of Steven to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Steven Craig Idler passed suddenly on Saturday, December 5, 2020.  He shared 59 years of love with his family.  Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2020 from 2-5 pm at the Norman Dean Funeral Home, Denville.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 10:00 am at St. Clement Pope & Martyr Church, 154 Mt. Pleasant Ave, Dover, NJ.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the NorthStar Pet Rescue, PO Box 284 Boonton, NJ 07005.  Steven donated much of his time here and was an animal lover always!

Steven was born on February 10, 1961 to Guy and Judy Idler.  He grew up in Rockaway and graduated from Morris Knolls in 1979.  A few years later he married his high school sweetheart Jacquie LaFergola and they started their wonderful life together.  They were blessed with three children and Steven was the proudest Dad.  His love and constant support and presence never went unnoticed.  He was sarcastic and always had great delivery with his quick wit.  He was observant and kind and never had a harsh word.  He always saw the best in others and loved his family more than life itself.

Steven worked with BTECH in Rockaway for the past six years.  Away from work, he loved to hike in the great outdoors.  He enjoyed camping and fishing and spending time with his wife and other volunteers with the NorthStar Pet Rescue.  He was generous with his time and loved giving back.  During this season of Thanksgiving we are reminded to always be our best selves and love each other each day. Steven’s wonderful spirit will never leave us.

He leaves only loving memories to his beloved wife Jacqueline of 38 years; his children Jonathan Idler (MaryAnn Connolly), Danielle Idler and Gregory Idler; his Mom Judy Kelly (Tom) and Dad Gaetano Idler (Terri); his siblings Sherri Konopka and Ken Idler, Georgette Idler, Nicholas Idler, Joseph Idler (Katie Idler) and David Idler;  his loyal pups Ziti Vincenzo, Bowie Bop and Gia Marie; his grandpup Oliver; and many more dear relatives and friends.
