Where do I begin? I was a member of her small choir at the Church of the Saviour in Denville. She was so delightful and easygoing. She had an uncanny ability to choose music for the talents that we had. What we sang was as complimentary to our voices as could possibly be. To this day, I hum the pieces we sang with her. She played the organ in a very stately way. There were times that the minister there would sing faster than the organ, trying to get her to speed up. Nope. Margaret had her tempos set in stone. It always made me smile. I adored her. May she rest peacefully and may her family know how much she was loved.

I'm heartbroken to know that Margaret has passed. I remember vividly my elementary school afternoons spent with her, Magnus, Lady and Ginger. "Mrs. Gythfeldt", as I called her at the time, was always kind and soft spoken but purposeful. I spent many afternoons and summer days watching her knit, play piano, prepare liverwurst sandwiches and Lipton chicken noodle soup, and accomplish the day's multitude of tasks. Margaret taught me how to ride a bike - running alongside me and my yellow banana seated girl's bike. I'm so sorry the world no longer has her in it - she was very special and I will always hold my childhood memories of her in my heart. Her warmth and energy remains.
I send my deepest condolences to Audun, Margit Jean, Marianne and Magnus, and your families. Be well and be safe.
Cherie

I am so sad to hear that Margaret has passed away. I was the parish administrator at The a Church of the Saviour when she was the church organist. Such a wonderfully sweet lady. I always enjoyed our chats. May she RIP. My condolences to her family.

Margaret and the Gythfeldt family mean a great deal to Cherie (daughter) and me. From age 6 to 10, Cherie was under Margaret’s wings everyday after school. Cherie was very blessed to have received wonderful care and much love from Margaret and family. For that, I am eternally grateful. Plus, I enjoyed our friendship, and always admired Margaret’s gentleness and soft-spoken manners. I wished I could emulate. We miss her. She will always be in our memory. Our heart-felt condolences and much love go to Audun and the entire family.
Photos: Margaret, Audun and Maud sharing our joy in Cherie's 2004 graduation and 2007 post-wedding celebration.
Cherie will post photos from Old Forge East!

Very sorry to hear of Margaret's passing.
She was a lovely auntie to us and even though we now live in New Zealand and hadn't seen her for a few years she still managed to remember our daughter's birthdays (and our Christmas's) & sent cards each year. Two photos included from 2010 and 2011 of Rose.
Best wishes to Uncle Audun, Margit Jean, Marianne & Magnus and all of your partners and families.
Love & Fond memories of those great holidays in Norway, Scotland & USA.

Margaret and I (her great-niece) back in 2015 on my first trip to the US. I only stayed for a few days but Auntie Margaret made me feel right at home and happily took me out & about! I have happy memories of us eating dinner al fresco and stroking Mittens on the sofa in the evenings.

Maude and Mormor had a special bond. Maude took full advantage of Mormor's generosity as a grandmother, and often went on shopping sprees with her! This selfie shows them having fun taking photos of themselves in their new clothes.

Here's Mummy as a young teacher in Scotland, with her big class. She reminisced about her early teaching days recently, telling me how much she enjoyed it. She proudly spoke of the visiting musician position that they created for her, so that more students could benefit from her talents.

Aunty Margaret's visit to Scotland in 2015. In one photo she is visiting her sisters, Alice and Mary, in Kinross. Alice's husband Donald and two grandchildren, Foster and Stella (Jenny's children), are there too. The other photo shows Margaret in Edinburgh at the house of her nephew Leslie. Nieces Catherine and Jenny and Jenny's children are there too. As is Uncle Donald.
Margaret was always very generous to our children and I still remember the colouring books she gave us! from Catherine Matheson
