Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Norwick

Elizabeth “Betty” Norwick née Matthias passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at University Hospital in Newark. She was predeceased by her parents, Tessie and Anthony Matthias, her husband, William Norwick, and her brother, Joseph Matthias.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 14th at 2:00 pm at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville. Burial will follow at Denville Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome to join us for a walkthrough visitation prior to Mass on Monday, September 14th from 12:30 – 1:30 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville.

Betty was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey and moved to Scotch Plains in 1984.  She worked at Ciba Pharmaceuticals in Summit where she met her husband, Bill and moved to Denville where they shared 24 years of marriage.  She was a faithful parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Denville.

Betty leaves behind her cherished sister, Suzanne Surbrug and her husband Dennis; her adored nieces and nephews whom she loved as if they were her own children, Amy (Richard) Hoffman, Kate (Paul) Walsh, and Michael (Kelly) Surbrug; her beloved stepson, Martin Norwick, her treasured great-nieces and great-nephews, Jamie (Isis) Surbrug, Kate (Bradley) Long, Sean, Nicholas, and Emma Walsh, and Delaney, Chase, and Lyla Surbrug; her adored great-great-nephew, Alexander Moore; her beloved parrot, Miss Priss; and many more extended family and dear friends.
