My relationship with Ed spanned more than 45 years. We interacted in varying ways over those years – he as a client, a colleague, my boss but most of all as a friend. His advice and counsel was always appreciated and valued.
We reconnected after I retired five years ago. We, along with Bob Cutler, had lunch often. We also went to ball games, movies, geocaching (only once for me) and leisurely trips around Lake Hopatcong on his boat but what was most enjoyable was just talking to Ed. We discussed family, books, work friends and life in general. We could go on for hours. He made you feel important – that’s Ed.
When Ed was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, he was realistic about his condition. He did all that he could to fight the disease. He fought and survived almost four years.
I found Ed to be one of those people you meet in life who leave you with a respect and admiration that only few can emulate.
May you rest in peace dear friend. I’ll miss you.

Thanks Janine and John (aka MacGyver ;-)) for your kind words. John thanks again for being helpful in a pinch with Dad’s boat battery issue. He really appreciated that!
In advance, Janine we appreciate you rallying for a lake boat drive by memorial for Dad. More information on that to come.
Thanks again for being such caring and great neighbors!

I had the pleasure to work with ED at Jersey Central and GPU nuclear and I always found Ed to be a gentlemen both on work related as well as personal matters. He joined several of our retiree luncheons till the Covid struck. I will always cherish our friendly discussions.
As a side, his daughter and my wife were naturalized the same day in Morristown. .

Thanks Julien for sharing such a nice memory of Dad. We enjoy hearing his Co worker memories.
He told us about the continued lottery pool he contributed towards after retirement and how hopeful he was for a group win lol.
That’s so amazingly coincidental that I was naturalized the same day as your wife! I remember that day, well the photo may have helped lol
Thanks again for sharing and caring about Dad.

Thanks Tom for posting a picture from Dad’s working days. I had visited the office when I was in my early twenties. Moreover, I remember going to the office and meeting some colleagues. From memory, he was an equivalent to a C level at AT&T where I formally worked. Specifically, I recall after that visit I came to learn that he was a well established and dedicated working professional and I had admired him for that.
Again, thanks for sharing and caring .

Only today did I hear the news of Ed's passing and I am deeply saddened. I met Ed in 1976 when I was a young cadet engineer and we were starting a new engineering group under Ed's direction. I then worked with Ed for over thirty years at JCP&L, GPUN and ENERCON. He was one of my original mentors and leaders. He provided me with words of wisdom and guidance that I will always remember. It was not only his work ethic but his love of his family that he passed on. Throughout the years he was always honest, dependable, intelligent and professional. I will miss Ed, but please understand that I will always have very fond memories of him as a leader and as a man. I can see from the beautiful slide show that you have provided, he lived a full and meaningful life and was loved and admired by his family and friends. What more can be said. May he rest in peace and may the perpetual light of God shine upon him.

Thanks Joseph for expressing such gratitude from Dad’s mentoring days with you and thereafter. It warms my heart knowing people both respected and valued him as much as our family.
It sounds as if you were the “perfect mentee” ;-) I’m sure Dad enjoyed and took pleasure in having you as a mentee. Dad always took pride in providing personal growth and professional development. With that, I’m sure he felt rewarded and fulfilled by doing so with you.
Thank you again for your condolences.

My heartfelt condolences to the family of Ed O'Conner.
I have had the pleasure of working for and with Ed since he hired me into J C P & L in 1976. He was a terrific boss, knowledgeable and tolerant of a young engineer new to the industry.
Ed remained a valued and trusted colleague as we transitioned to GPUN after the TMI 2 accident.
Ed was always kind and treated everyone with respect and dignity. Truly a man to be admired.
May he Rest In Peace.

Ed was a great colleague to work with and a great buddy to pal around with for all these many years after retirement. I don't know anyone who did not admire Ed.
Gone much too soon but never forgotten.
Rest in peace Ed.

Thanks “Farmer Bob”. Dad referred you as that to the kiddos when we went up to your house in Sparta. We always enjoyed those Adventure days!
Thanks for being a great friend to Dad! He spoke so highly of you!
Keep in touch or maybe we will see you again at Denville Dairy :-)
