Joe was years older than me. He'd left "the Patch" before I arrived there. In the last few years, I got to know him a little, and as I did I also learned to like him a lot. We exchanged emails and phone calls discussing topics of mutual interest hoping to capture enough history and memories to preserve when we passed. We enjoyed these sessions sharing thoughts and memories of special such as our Orthodox faith; its history in the US; our experiences in the "old country"; our Rusyn heritage; the "Patch" in Taylor; and of course Penn State football.
He will be missed... in many places, including back in St. George's Church in Taylor and "The Patch" ... which we both grew up in.
Vichnaya Pamyat. Eternal Memory.

Joe was our very dear friend. He was honest and kind, and loved his church. He helped us keep our Carpatho Russyn background alive. We loved him, and miss him dearly... May His Memory Be Eternal!

A blessed paradise dear Joseph! Fondly remembering going to St. George in Taylor, PA with you, your wife, +Fr. William, Pani Amy and a few others a few years ago, to see the Tenderhearted Theotokos, and sharing a local pizza, the best in the area together! You will always be at Sts. Peter and Paul, worshiping with along side all there in spirit and with your tender heart!
Memory Eternal!

To me, Joseph was one of this parish's ''faces'', its sign figures. I remember how he would often greet me in Russian when we met, and asked ''Kak dyela?'' (how are you). Feel grateful to him for those warm feelings he spread around himself. Although we did not even meet often, Joseph is very present and alive in my memory. Deep condolences and love to the family and friends. Vichnaya Pamyat, Memory Eternal!

Dear Marge and family,
We are truly sorry to hear that your beloved husband and our friend Joe passed away yesterday. Joe was such a great and kind person who was always saying warm greetings, smiling at you and giving you a big hug. He was a man of strong faith who always wanted to be in the church and pray! He was always singing with joy at all the Services and helping around the church as much as he could.
He will be missed so much! God is taking care of him now and Father William welcomes him in Heaven! May his memory be eternal! Vechnaya emu Pamyat! Christ is Risen!
We pray that God will shower you with His Grace and give you and your family comfort, peace, and strength during this difficult time and always. We give you our most heartfelt condolences.
With love and prayers,
Natasha and Jim

Dear Marge, Dan, Karen, Tina and all of the Roman family.. I am so very sad today with Joe's passing. I have known Joe for 70 years, from our Taylor, Pa. days. Joe was the epitome of the term gentleman...with "gentle" being the action word. He was a joy to know and he was always worried about the next person, never himself. Joe was greeted in heaven by all whom he loved and had gone before him. I will miss his singing in church...I will miss our coffee hour and about how he researched my grandparents who came to the patch as immigrants. It will be a tough task to replace his Discipleship in our church community. I will miss him but know he is safely Home. Eternal Memory...
Vichnaya Pamyat!
