Ed and I worked together for many years, and my heart is heavy to know I will no longer get his wonderful emails with his funny jokes. He will always be remembered for his kindness and the help that he gave me; I could always call Ed with a problem, and he was so smart I would have to tell him to "Stop - information overload!" I look forward to seeing him on the other side. Prayers for the family; know that he was very loved!

Mr. Loughrey,
I apologize in advance that I still cannot bring myself to call you "Ed," although you asked many times that I do so. Most sons-in-law, let alone ex sons-in law, have horror stories to tell about their father-in-law. I have none. You were all that I could have hoped for, and then some. You saved Carol and I several thousand dollars by refusing to knuckle under to the maitre d's extraordinary demand at our wedding, which certainly came in handy given that we had just purchased a house. You helped me lay a tile floor in the bathroom of that house. You were the first to greet me at family functions and put a drink in my hand. You were interested in what I had to say. And you always had a new joke/limerick for me, which you presented with your devilish smile.
You were truly someone who lived life to the fullest. May you rest in peace.

To Carol, Mrs. Laughrey and Family,
I was so happy to have met Ed. He was such a beautiful person in and out. Ed loved the lord and his wonderful family. I would cut his hair and he would talk about his family, job, and jeopardy. He answered those questions before the contestants did, smart man! I will miss him... it was a blessing to have known Ed.
Sincerely,
Lisa Corvelli

Dear Mrs. Loughrey, Ray, & girls,
When I had Ray in 1st grade and he soon became “teacher’s pet” even though that wasn’t allowed [smile] I remember both of you as such sweet, loving parents. I remember him coming to my dad’s store for the Sunday paper. Take solace in knowing the legacy he left in his children and the loving family you all had. Your tribute to him made me cry and I will keep you all in my prayers.
With fond memories,
Tonie [Tardive] Bryant

Dear Ed,
Ovens and stoves are secondary to space, which in my humble opinion, space will always trump an oven/stove in Manhattan. Even to my own mother and father, they found this unusual. But, I always knew you understood. And I thank you. RIP
Elaine.

I had one more postcard to send Mr. Loughrey already stamped. Better late than never. It said
Sorry for not writing lately but wanted you to know Carol's friends are always thinking of you and keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. Did you ever think we would be threatened by a global pandemic? Still coming to grips with it, as no doubt you are. It gets in the way of so many important things like holding our loved ones' hands. Hope springs eternal in spring! God bless. Carol's friend, Gerry Ponto

To Carol, Mrs. Loughrey and the whole family- This was just such a warm and loving tribute to your father/husband. It was wonderful to hear this lovely story of his life. The twinkle in his eye part of the story really resonated with me...that is exactly what I remember best about Mr. Loughrey. It made me feel like he was including me in some mischief; he was always fun.
My heart goes out to all of you along with my prayers. It may not seem so now but the time will come when thoughts of Dad will bring a smile...the same one he brought to others... rather than the tears you feel today.
Take care of each other and much love to you all.

I work at the Dwelling Place as a Recreational Therapist and I was blessed to have met and spend time with Mr. Ed. I enjoyed our conversations, his humor and our quiet prayer time. He was always positive, shared stories and always talked about his family. He was so proud and said he was a lucky may. I will miss him and will find it difficult to say my Novenas without him. Thank you Mr. Ed for your friendship which I will always cherish. My wish for the family is that the memories they shared will give them peace in each tomorrow. Fondly, Agnes
