I will always remember the many years of good times my family and I had with Richie as we spent holidays, picnics, times at Norbu, functions with Marching Band friends, celebrations of all kinds, etc. My daughter is Kimberlee Karpack Pintar. Richie was always one of the family to us. I will miss him and glad that he is finally at peace. My deepest sympathy to your family.

It saddens me to hear about the passing of my friend Rich. I will always remember our good times training the kids soccer. I will treasure the good times we had when we took our team to Denmark! Rest in peace, my friend!

Lee was proud to call his shipmate from the destroyer Bearss his friend. Olie was a fine man and we enjoyed the many years of Navy reunions with him. He was so entertaining and friendly, everyone found him endearing. Rest in peace, Olie, you did your family and Country proud.
Signed: Lee E Mayo, VP, USS Bearss DD654 Reunions

Dear Jim and Family:
We were so sorry to hear of the loss of your Father. Richie was such a "bright light" when he entered a room. He brought such happiness and smiles wherever he was. Working tirelessly whether at the Nor-Bu Cabin or in Church. My children adored him; as well as, all the children in the Junior Lodge. He was their friend and mentor, at the "helm" of their float every Sons of Norway Parade in Brooklyn. He touched so many lives and that was his true gift. Although he will be missed by so many, he has now entered his just reward.

I am so sorry for your loss. Richard was a good friend to my dad. After my dad had to give up driving, Richard would pick him up in Lake Telemark so that dad could go bowling with him. His friendship meant so much to my dad.

I did not know Richard Olsen, but my great-uncle Leo Campbell also served on the USS Bearss during the Korean conflict and lived in the Indian Lake section of Denville at the time. Wish I had known that someone who likely served with my great-uncle lived so close by all this time and had a chance to speak with him. I appreciate the service of veterans and am sorry for your loss at this difficult time.
