Paul and I were best childhood friends through elementary and high school. We were inseparable and hung out together playing sports every day. I was lucky to reconnect with him several years ago after a 40 year hiatus. He was a special influence in my life. My sincere condolences to his family.

Paul was and is like family. We first met over 40 years ago and my wife and I always looked forward to visits back to New Jersey, especially during the holidays, where we'd have a chance to sit with Paul and take in his positive look on life - and to reminisce "the old days". I always felt there were five of us in our band those days in the early 70's...yes - Paul was one of us.

I read about Paul's death in the Star Ledger. I am so sorry for your loss. Death of a loved one can be very distressing. The Bible teaches us that death was not part of God's original plan. He wanted man to live forever on a paradise earth in perfect health. Man disobeyed God and brought about sin and death to the human race. God's plan will still be realized. Isaiah 55:11 states, "So my word that goes out of my mouth will be. It will not return to me without results, but it will certainly accomplish whatever is my delight. It will have sure success in what I send it to do." The Bible talks about a resurrection of those who have died. (Acts 24:15, John 5:28, 29) The word resurrection in the Bible literally means "a standing up again" and "revival of the dead". The provision for resurrection of the dead is a magnificent expression of God's undeserved kindness. It displays his wisdom and power and is a means by which his original purpose regarding the earth and humans will be carried out. If you would like to know more about what the Bible teaches, please visit JW.org where you will find a free, online Bible Study format. Sincerely, Paula

Paul and I were in the same classes at Bergen. He had a knack for being first in line in the lunch cafeteria. As our last class before lunch was dismissed, he would bolt for the door and catch my eye as he whizzed by, and I would call out, "Schaeffer, Moo Juice." He faithfully would buy a milk carton for me, and I would reimburse him when he joined me at a lunch table. After lunch, we often indulged in an ice cream. Funny, every time I have a glass of milk, I think of him and wonder what he's been doing. Sounds like he had spent his time well. His photo is not much different from what I remember, and that makes it all the harder to believe he's no longer with us. My deepest heartfelt condolences to all of his loved ones. Your loss is truly great.

My grandfather was one of the smartest people I’ve ever known. Any chance he got he would always help with my homework whenever I asked for help. I am very happy that he moved back to New Jersey years ago. If he never had our lives would have been very boring. He was also a great father to my dad and my aunt and loved them very much, I miss my grandfather and I wish I could have been there with him on his last days. Heaven gained another angel

Of many, many memories, one of my fondest is Paul's asking for some help with "The Baby Banana" - his (and formerly Phil's) yellow MGC. He needed some "British to American" translation help. I remember him looking at the owner's manual and trying to figure out what "rear light" meant with reference to the convertible top. He was looking beneath the tail lights when I told him that "rear light" meant "back window." We went around the car for some basics: Bonnet for hood, boot for trunk, and so on. It was a bit of payback for all the things I had learned--and would learn--from Paul over the years.
I miss being able to pick up the phone and check in with him, and I miss his responses to the emails that Ed Ludwig sends from time to time.
Godspeed, my dear friend. You were--and are--loved.
Roy

When Paul and I worked in the UK, we were fortunate to rent a particularly special place, which he and I often reminisced about. It was an old English country manor called Gayhurst, which was originally owned by Elizabeth the 1st, who bequeathed it to Sir Walter Raleigh, who purportedly then sold it within 24 hours. The home was later owned by Sir Everard Digby, who was one of the conspirators involved in the Gunpowder Plot and was hung drawn and quartered for his troubles. Paul and I used to roam all over the grounds and the surrounding countryside looking for bits of history and often frequented the local pubs in nearby Newport Pagnell and Stoke Goldington. We both really loved this place and had many memories together there, talking about pretty much everything under the sun, over fish and chips, curries, donner kebabs, shepherds pie and ploughman's plates all washed down with many pints of ale served up in the pubs. I had the pleasure of being Paul's roommate, colleague and friend going back to 1997 in Columbus Ohio, in Ealing (London), in Gayhurst, and in West Drayton (near Heathrow). I will never forget you my brother. Sláinte Pablo! I miss you.

I'm so very sorry to hear this. Such sad news. I knew Paul when he worked in London 10 years ago with Robert Reagan & Elliot Boughen. He was such a kind and gentle fellow with a great sense of humour. Condolences to all his family and friends. RIP Paul.

My dad loved so many facets of life, especially his family and friends and all animals! I remember him coaching me in soccer and cheering me on. His adoration toward all our cats and dogs (especially~Cream, Jake, Teddy, Missy and Tori). My dad always was "the glass is half full" most positive person I ever knew. His generosity and wanting to always give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it was a rare and special quality. As most all know, my dad loved wolves...this past Christmas I sponsored a wolf in his name through the Wolf Conservation Center in Westchester county NY. His name is Maus, he is a pup in the Mexican Gray Wolf family of Belle and Rhett. The Conservation's website is nywolf.org and you can choose to see webcams of each family who are in their one designated areas. He was very excited to learn of this Center and for the hope to rejuvenate the wolves throughout the world. I thought maybe this might be a nice way that everyone can have an additional type of connection with my Dad.

I don’t even know what to say. Paul was such a huge influence on my life. He was a mentor, a coworker, and more importantly a dear friend. He played a huge role in my children’s lives as they grew up and was a staple in our lives. Most of my fondest memories included Paul. I will miss him dearly and remember him always.
Robert Reagan.
