I am so blessed to have met Mr. Johnsen, through my friendship with his beautiful daughters, Melissa and Jennifer. I remember Thanksgivings at the Johnsen House, where everyone was so warm and welcoming to me- and Mr. Johnsen, always with a grin on his face, telling a joke or sharing a family memory. I remember, summer get togethers in Melissa's backyard, and Mr. Johnsen always sharing in our laughter, and always making it a point to ask you about your life, no matter how long it has been since he's seen you. I remember when Melissa moved home from California, and talking with him at her Networking Event, and seeing the immense smile on his face and his abundance of happiness as he watched his children's accomplishments, and readily supporting them in all of their endeavors. I remember, Melissa's surprise birthday, and Jennifer making a speech about the loving and incredible relationship her and her family share, and the abundance of love, gratefulness, and generosity Mr. and Mrs. Johnsen showed to everyone around them, for being apart of their most cherished family moments. That said, Mr. Johnsen, will always live through his family's laughter, memories, and ever present spirit, that is within all of his beautiful children and within his incredible wife, Mrs. Johnsen. There are people, in life, that will forever hold a special place in your heart, because their spirit is the epitome of goodness and love - Mr. Johnsen, to all he met, is one of those people. Rest in Peace, Mr. Johnsen. <3
"For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God, in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Dear Patricia, Melissa, Jennifer, James, and Anthony: I will forever remember the very nice occasions when your loving husband and dad would have discussions with my wife and me during our real estate times at Weichert and Coldwell Banker. We also chatted about our experiences as Adjunct Professors at CCM. I think we enjoyed getting together the most at catered broker open houses and different catered real estate events. As you can surmise, we both loved to eat. I also remember thanking and kidding Rich for the nice rides he was responsible for giving me as a United States Naval personnel. I was in the US Marine Corps. We did get a good chuckle out of that.
So I leave by just saying once again how very sorry we are that Rich has left us on earth. But we do know he lives on in all of you, his loving and wonderful family.
Sincerely and with all our prayers to you,
Frank and Susanne Chiaverini

Bill and I have so many memories of Rich.... He was like the brother who lived in another house. We were always glad to see him and he seemed always glad to be home again. We missed him a lot when we moved away from Long Island, but he was always in the conversation when we talked with Bob or Nana (when she was here) Bless you Rich, hope to see you in the hereafter...

There are one million words I can say about my truly, unique brother-in-law at this devastating time of his tragic lass, but I’ll limit my words to a few, heartfelt ones.Richie was a wonderful “brother”with a tremendous heart of gold, who worshipped his wife and adored his four children. Nothing made him happier than spending quality time with his five “babies”. I’ll forever cherish him, and all of the priceless memories spent with him at his wonderful “resort” in Denville, and the glowing smile on his face, just relaxing, and enjoying life with his entire family. I’ll say goodbye to you, Richie, until we all reunite again in heaven. I love you. Love, Lorr-Lorr

Although I haven’t seen this crazy bunch of guys in a very long time the memories will always be there. Sunday afternoons on the hill at Wildwood State Park in Wading River, NY, picnics, long car rides to nowhere (or somewhere!), visiting friends and families to just hang out and do nothing (or something! Lol)!!! The photos are embedded in my mind. He was gregarious, had the biggest heart and was always willing to lend a hand with a twinkle in his eye. I just hate this part of getting older. Peace!

What can I say to my beautiful, sister with an inner glow, who just lost the love of her life?
What can I say to my four precious nieces & nephews who lost their best friend & father..their loving, devoted Dad, who loved them all so much?
There are no words right now that will take away your pain & sadness. An emptiness that feels “unreal”.
I can say just one thing from my heart..and without a doubt,” you were all his world...his Family. You all made his life Complete! He couldn’t have wanted more”.
I know that with all my heart..I can say that..
And so now he’s looking down on you from Heaven, his new home..God’s welcome home.. joined once again with family & friends whom he’s missed.. He is watching over all of you, never really gone, still loving you all, but from above,
you are still “his world”,
I love you all!..And.Richie, you’ll be truly missed But it’s not goodbye,,it’s see you later! I Love You my Brother-In -Law

Our good friend Bob Coni introduced Rich to us & our group many years back. We forged what has become lifelong friendships. There are so many memories we all have of Rich. I still remember buying his mom’s 56 Chevy. I also remember the station wagon Rich would use to hall us around. We have a pic of all of us at Wildwood State Park on top of the old station wagon.
After many years of living all over the country, I was happy to see some of the guys again. Although Tony & I got to see each other over the decades I was gone, I had not seen Rich, John or Bob since the late 70’s. Rich, Bob, Tony, John & I got together in Myrtle Beach a few years back by Bob’s house & it was as if we hadn’t missed a day. You know there’s a special friendship when it is truly timeless. We called ourselves the Goonies.
Since then, we could always rely on Rich to be the 1st to wish the Goonies a Merry/Happy something. It may have been a Happy Beer Day or some other such thing. He also wanted to make sure he dispensed a little guidance to his fellow Goonies from time to time. This past Valentine’s day, he said, “Hey guys… Happy Valentine’s Day to you & your honey’s… Now try not to ruin it & say something stupid to her!”
Rich, from 1 sailor to another, Fair Winds & Following Seas my friend.
My sincere sympathies to his family & friends. He will be dearly missed by many.

You were a great father, great husband great mentor to me when I had the pleasure to work with you thanks to my good friend Melissa, also I remember being at Rails working when you went with Patricia for your wedding anniversary and you can see in your eyes the love you had for eachother. Remember the pool parties and also remember always asking me about if Melissa said she was ok in LA, cause even tho you spoke with her all the time I was her friend and she could tell me other things. He was always so caring. Glad I met you and your amazing family.

It was in the second grade that I first met Rich. Although we had been long ago leading our own lives, we’ve kept in touch. When life changes struck, I could call him to just unload. In our youth, I’d see him often. He’d be a frequent Sunday dinner guest. Over the years there were times he would make a special effort to be present. One time was when we had a 90th birthday party for my mother who fed him those dinners. The party was the day after a significant nor’easter dropped about a foot of snow but Rich made sure he and Patricia made that party. He was like that, steady and loyal, but equally bright and funny. I am going to miss my best friend. Although we rarely saw each other in the last few years he and a few other high school friends and I have had a few guys get togethers and I will cherish those times. Rest In Peace Rich.

Rich was a wonderful, good and dear neighbor and friend. He will be so missed but never ever forgotten. He was full of cheer and his strength in everything gave my family courage and hope. He cared about the people he loved and would always lend a helping hand. His presence and that smile brought everyone comfort especially in times of need.
Life surely has twists and turns and now yet another turn in our journey of life has occurred.
Why? Why? Why?
This question just bewilders all of us and there are no answers.
What we do know is Rich has been taken from his earthly mission to be with God. Jesus said on the cross to the person next to him “ This day you will be with me in Paradise”
Rich is now in heaven and he will be your amazing angel who will send you signs of love. You must be open to these signs and cherish them. He is with you all always!
God Bless You All
We are here for you
