Obituary of Giovanni Gambino

Please share a memory of Giovanni to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Giovanni B. Gambino passed peacefully at home on January 1, 2020. He shared 70 years of hard work and fishing tips with everyone he knew. Giovanni was born in Torretta, Palermo, Italy. He immigrated to the United States in 1966 with his family. He worked hard operating Denville Pizzeria until his retirement a few years back. He and his wife Anna were proud to be able to give their daughters a loving home and comfortable life. When he wasn’t working, Giovanni enjoyed fishing and being with his family. He was stubborn as could be but his huge heart always shined the most. The sun rose and set on his daughters and he adored his grandchildren. Although we are broken hearted by his sudden passing, we take comfort in knowing he is with his beloved Anna once again and watching over his family with love and pride. Predeceased by his beloved wife Anna (Scalici) and his father Carmelo Gambino; he leaves beautiful memories to his daughters Frances Terranova and her husband Pietro, and Rosalia Gambino, his cherished grandchildren, Annalia and Biagio Terranova, his dear mother Francesca Gambino; his sisters Rosa DiMaggio (Gaetano) and Anna Ustica (Giovanni); and many more dear relatives, friends and neighbors. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 7th at 10 am at St. Mary’s Church Denville, NJ. Entombment to follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, East Hanover. Visiting hours will be on Monday, January 6th from 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the good work of St. Jude Childrens’ Research Hospital by way of www.inmemof.org
