Obituary of John Michael Judge
Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John M. Judge, of Ashburn, VA, formerly of Denville, passed peacefully from this life on February 6, 2015. He was 89 years old.
He was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, and served his country during World War II as a pharmacist mate in the Navy. After his discharge, he attended the McAlister School of Embalming and was a licensed funeral director in the state of New York.
He spent summers in Denville during his youth and moved there in 1956 to become a Certified Medical Representative with the A.H. Robins Company. He spent his entire career with Robins, and retired in 1988.
He was active in the Indian Lake community, as well as being a member of the Denville Rotary.
John made friends easily, and was happiest when spending time with those he loved. He had a big voice, a bigger personality, and never in his life met a stranger. He loved to play golf and read, and enjoyed visiting historic landmarks and national parks. Although he moved to Virginia in 1999, he retained strong ties to Denville, and considered it his home.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Doris, son John Jr. of Ashburn, VA, daughter Susan (Judge) Colby and son-in-law Joe of Greensboro, NC, and grandchildren, Zachary Austin Colby and Jessie Watters-Pelton Colby, also of Greensboro, NC, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his sisters, Marilyn Judge and Patricia Luzzi, both of Denville.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday April 4, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Avenue Denville, NJ. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 Noon until time of services. Interment will follow in Denville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.
