Obituary of Donald Thomas Cioffi
Please share a memory of Donald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Donald Thomas Cioffi, 77, of Denville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at St. Clare's Hospital on February 14, 2015.
Born in the Bronx New York, Don graduated from Catholic Central High School and attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, both in Troy, NY. He began his career as an employee of the State of NY in Albany, eventually moving his family to New Jersey to pursue further career opportunities. Don was employed by Consumers Distributing, Crum & Forster and Anderson Consulting, finally retiring in 1999. He was a past member of the Denville Kiwanis, Denville Drug Abuse Council, and the Denville Planning & Board of Adjustment. One of Don's greatest passions was golfing; he was a member of the Delaware Water Gap Country Club, which he frequented most weekends with family and friends. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid softball player on the Denville Mens Recreation League until the age of 65. In his later years he donated to the Mt Airy Casino and the casinos in Las Vegas on a regular basis. Black jack was his game.
He was an amazing son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be missed by so many.
Predeceased by his parents, Pasqule and Anna (nee Skrabak) Cioffi; his sister Patricia Cioffi Barr; and his grandchildren David Lee and Erin Elizabeth Jarvis, Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Marilyn (nee LaPlante); his devoted children Donald B. Cioffi of East Stroudsburg, PA, Harriet Jarvis and her husband David of Lake Hopatcong, Lisa Alegria and her husband Orlando of Mt. Olive, and Paul Cioffi and fiance Ashley Vanderhoof of Tampa, FL; his cherished grandchildren Nicole Makepeace, Donald J., Michael, and Emily Cioffi, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Anna, and Carlo Alegria and his adored great-grandchildren Amelia and Jeffrey Makepeace who were a great source of joy in his final weeks.
