Obituary of Robert Francis Edwards

ROBERT F. EDWARDS FORMER TOWN PLANNER - AGE 96 Robert Francis Edwards passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 22nd after a brief illness at the age of 96. Before moving to Franciscan Oaks in Denville, NJ 10 years ago, Mr. Edwards, and his wife Kathryn were active members of the Montclair community. He served as Town Planner in Montclair for over 30 years and with Kathryn were proprietors of the Paper Boutique, in Watchung Plaza. He was also President of Montclair HS Lacrosse Booster Club and was an active parishioner at Immaculate RC Church. Mr. Edwards served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and is a graduate of Penn State University. Robert was an accomplished wood carver; many of his works were displayed at the Montclair Art Museum and other venues. Family was paramount in Robert's life; nothing pleased him more than enjoying the activities of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Edwards is predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Kathryn. He is survived by a sister, Grace Thompson, 3 sons, Robert and wife Joyce, Paul and wife Liz and Daniel and wife Barbara. He is also survived by his dear friend, Edith Parker, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Friends and relatives may visit at the Norman Dean Home for Services in Denville on Tuesday, November 25th from 1pm-3pm and 6pm-8pm. A Funeral Mass at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Denville will be celebrated at 9:30am, on Wednesday, November 26th immediately followed by interment at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Upper Montclair, NJ.
