Obituary of Jane G. LaConte

Please share a memory of Jane to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jane G. LaConte passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at The Oaks Healthcare Center in Denville. She was 89 years young. Born in Newark to the late Joseph and Eleanor Duda, she was raised in Irvington. After graduating High School, she attended Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School. Jane made a very successful 40 year career working for William Marcy Agency in Pompton Plains before retiring in 1994 as the Secretary and Administrative Assistant. She married her soulmate, Samuel C. LaConte, in 1953 and together they settled in Hazlet to begin a family of their own. In 1960, their beautiful family of 4 relocated to the Packanack Lake section of Wayne, where they remained for 50 years before officially retiring to Denville. Jane was the epitome of a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend; she was kind, compassionate, patient, and playful. A talented seamstress, she made clothes and Halloween costumes for both her children and grandchildren. Jane loved music; it poured through her soul. She could often be found randomly breaking out into song and we all adored hearing her beautiful singing voice. Jane was also an amazing baker, always making her pies and cakes from scratch. We will never forget her contagious laugh, incredible sense of humor, and thoughtful cards which always included a poem written from her heart. She will be sorely missed and never forgotten. Although we are saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing Jane is reunited with her beloved husband of 62 years, Samuel and her siblings, Eleanor Schambach, Adele Symon, and Robert Duda. She leaves only joyful memories to her loving children, Tom LaConte and his wife Paulette and Diane Finley and her husband Anthony; her cherished grandchildren, Pippin Carino, Kristin Finley and her husband Chris Huynh, and Laura Frugis and her husband Chris; her treasured great-grandson, Logan Frugis; her caring brother-in-law, Gerard P. LaConte; and many more extended family and friends. Jane will be buried with her husband at Northern New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Sparta, privately. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Jane here for her family to hold dear.
