Obituary of Edna Ruth Daniels

Please share a memory of Edna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Edna Ruth Daniels, of Denville, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Wednesday, November 27, 2019. She was 3 weeks shy of sharing 80 beautiful years on this earth.

Born and raised in Valdosta, Georgia to the late Edna Cottingham, Edna Ruth was one of three children to bless the Cottingham household. After graduating High School, at age 18, she relocated to New Jersey. She first settled in Morristown before finding her forever home in Denville, where she has resided for the last 20+ years. She attended and graduated from Morris County Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Edna made a very successful career for herself as a Registered Nurse, working for Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston for countless years before retiring in 1999.

Above anything else, Edna was a dedicated mother and doting grandmother; her granddaughters always came first in her life. She was an attentive caregiver, a faithful Jeopardy watcher, and a devoted Jazz lover. We will always think of her waking up on Sunday mornings to read the paper and the smell of her Maxwell House coffee on a daily basis. The next time you find yourself at a bar, please have a Hennessey in memory of our beloved Edna. Although we are saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with her adored granddaughter, Danielle Fleming and her brother, James “Jimmy” Cottingham.

She leaves only joyful memories to her treasured daughters, Kimberly Patrese Fleming and her husband Donald and Keisha Michelle Daniels; her cherished granddaughter, Bailey Daniels; her caring brother, William “Butch” Cottingham and his wife Mable; her loving nieces, Shawnette and Sherrae Cottingham; and her worshiped cat, Juneau.

Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, December 5th at 2 pm at Rosedale Cemetery, 408 Orange Rd., Montclair, NJ 07042. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Edna here for her family to hold dear.
