Obituary of Enzo Lo Iacono
Enzo Lo Iacono, of Rockaway Borough, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2019 at Saint Clare’s Hospital in Denville. He was 91 years young.
Born and raised in Alia, Sicily, Italy to the late Rosolino and Josephine Lo Iacono, he was one of three children to bless the Lo Iacono household. He proudly served in the Italian Army during World War II. It was there that he met his soulmate, Rosalia Canzonieri. Together they started their beautiful family of four before immigrating to the United States on September 20, 1967. They settled in Rockaway Township and Enzo found his niche as a Machinist working for International Edge Tool Company in Roseland prior to retiring at age 62. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #1562.
The true Patriarch of our family, Enzo was the greatest husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend that anyone could ever ask for. He was humble, kind, gentle, and giving. His family was always the first priority in his life. With his beloved Rosalia by his side, they hosted many gatherings, had a beautiful garden, and were famous for their “Sunday sauce” which was made from scratch with love and canned up to be given to all the family members for the year. Although we are saddened by his passing, we take comfort in knowing Mom and Dad are back together watching out for all of us from above.
Predeceased by his treasured wife Rosalia in 2015 and his sister Nuccia Riili, he leaves only joyful memories to his loving children, Maria and Peter McQuilkin and Lino and Lori Lo Iacono; his cherished grandchildren, Tina and Nick, Rosalia and Dany, Laura and Joseph, Brooke and Julio, Matthew, and Joseph; his adored great-grandchildren, Julian, Milla, Evan, Leela, and Jayden; his caring brother, Salvatore and Giovanna Lo Iacono and brother-in-law, Lucio Riili; and many more loving relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, October 30th at 10 am at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church, 90 Church Street, Rockaway. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Relatives and friends are welcome to visit on Tuesday, October 29th from 4 – 8 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Enzo here for his family to cherish.
