Obituary of Helen C. Rubino
Helen Claire Rubino (Kelly) passed away at her home in Denville, NJ on October 24, 2019, at the age of 98.
Born and raised in Queens, to Thomas and Anna Kelly, she spent the majority of her life in New York City. As a young woman she worked in many factories to support the war effort. Her favorite job was working in the maintenance department for John Adams High School in Queens, NY where she retired from in 1987.
Helen was a veracious reader, constantly reading everything she would come across.
She loved animals and was particularly interested in birds, some of which she would feed and cultivate homes for on her front porch. She loved to keep up with what was going on in the news and was very cautious about dangers, something that would make her very superstitious. Helen also found the time to enjoy needlepoint and do some amateur painting which as it would turn out she had a talent for.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 45 years, Domonic Rubino in 1986, and by her loving son James Rubino in 2001.
Helen is survived by her daughter Helen Clemente of Denville, NJ as well as her grandsons Alex and his wife Yasmin Clemente and Vincent and his wife Donna Rubino. Her Great Grandchildren James and Elena also survive her.
A private graveside service will be held at the family plot in Long Island, New York at a later date.
Memorial Donations can be made in her memory to the good work of the A.S.P.C.A. by way of inmemof.org.
