Obituary of Thomas Hoskins
Thomas Hoskins, of Rockaway Township, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side in the comfort of his home on Sunday, September 15, 2019. He was 80 years young.
Born in the Bronx, NY to the late Thomas Hoskins and Mary Connors, he was one of four children to bless the Hoskins household. After graduating High School, Thomas found his passion in computers and information technology. He worked as a Computer Programmer for multiple companies and formed his own Computer Programming company in the 1970's. Thereafter, he was a cable/sattelite technician for many years. More recently, and up until May of 2019, he worked part-time for The Star-Ledger in the distribution department. Thomas was a hard worker his entire life in order to support his family; they came first in his life, especially his grandchildren. When he wasn’t working or spending quality time with his family, you could find him watching a Yankee game, visiting Puerto Rico, or hanging out at Smith’s Tavern. Thomas was an amazing husband, a dedicated father, a loving grandfather, and a caring brother who will be sorely missed.
Predeceased by his parents, his sister, Mary Bice, and his son, Thomas Hoskins, he leaves only joyful memories to his beloved wife of 60 years, Geraldine; his adored children, Barbara Hoskins and Richard Hoskins and his wife Cathy; his cherished grandchildren, Richie, Madison, and Rylee; his treasured siblings, Margaret (the late Smitty) Smith and Timothy Hoskins and his wife Maureen; his caring in-laws, Richard Murphy and his wife Marlene and Aida (the late James) Murphy; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Public Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19th from 4 - 8 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 20th at 11 am at St. Clement Pope & Martyr Church, 154 Mt Pleasant Ave, Dover, NJ 07801. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Thomas here for his family to cherish.
