Obituary of Emily F. Avetzuk
Emily F. Avetzuk passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Boonton Care Center in Boonton. She was 94 years young.
Born and raised in Newark to the late Frederick and Florence Gebhardt, she graduated from West Side High School. She married Steven Avetzuk on June 14, 1947 and together in Newark they began their family. A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Ann’s Church. In 1961, they relocated to their forever home in Denville and continued to grow their family, becoming a family of five. While in Denville she was an active member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church and Denville Seniors. Emily enjoyed reading and completing puzzles. Her first priority was her family; she was an amazing wife, dedicated mother, devoted grandmother, and doting great-grandmother. She will forever be missed and treasured in our hearts.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Steven in 2010, she leaves only joyful memories to her loving children, Barbara (the late Cy) Enyeart, Mary (Bill) Conway, and Stephen (longtime companion Debbie Plecs) Avetzuk; her cherished grandchildren, Michael Conway, Matthew (Courtney) Conway, and Victoria (companion Jeff Grannon) Conway; her adored great-grandson, Christopher Conway; and nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, August 16th at 10 am at St. Mary’s RC Church, 15 Myers Ave., Denville. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Emily’s memory by way of www.inmemof.org. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Emily with her family.
