Obituary of Doris M. Chaewsky
Doris “Momoo” Chaewsky, of Parsippany, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville. She was 95 years young.
Born in Brooklyn, she was raised in NYC to the late Walter A. Markey and Veronica Markey; she was one of two children. Doris was born to be a star. She graduated from The Professional Children’s School in NYC. Living in the big city, she made her dreams come true and entered the show business world as a dancer and singer where she was a true “star”. She met and married her husband, George P. Chaewsky and together they raised two children, Robert and Donna. They were married in Highlands, NY and lived in Manhattan. Moved to Massapequa, NY to start a family, relocating to Monroeville, PA and then Freeport, LI before settling down in Parsippany NJ in 1966.
Doris was a die-hard Yankee fan, loved the music of Frank Sinatra and will eternally be a true New Yorker at heart. She loved music, dancing, partying, and could perpetually be found having the best time with an infectious smile on. She was sparkling from the inside out, consistently dressed to the nines with the makeup and jewelry to match; and she was always in style with the latest fashions. A genuinely classy woman, she was an eloquent writer, a talented artist, a skilled poet, and a master at crossword puzzles. Above anything else, she was a devoted mother, dedicated grandmother, and doting great-grandmother. She did not miss one event in her grandchildren’s lives. She will be missed beyond measure, but we will never forget her thoughtful, sympathetic, caring, and compassionate nature.
Predeceased by her husband, George in 1986, and brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Sylvia Leigh Markey, her legacy of unconditional love, laughter, and kindness will continue on in her adored children, Robert Chaewsky and Donna Porter and her husband Bruce; her cherished grandchildren, BG Porter, Damian Porter and his wife Jennifer, and Skylar Porter; and her treasured great-grandson, DJ Porter.
Public Visitation will be held on Friday, August 9th from 6 - 9 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 10th at 9:30 am at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. Memorial Donations are being accepted to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by way of www.inmemof.org. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of “Momoo” with her family.
