Obituary of Maria Anita Suk

Maria Anita Suk (Romeo) of Denville, NJ passed away at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ with her family by her side on July 30, 2019, at the age of 75.

 

Maria was born and raised in Morristown, NJ to James and Elizabeth Romeo and moved to Denville, NJ after getting married in 1962. She then focused on raising  her family and later went back and earned her Bachelor’s degree from St. Elizabeth’s College and her Master’s degree from Caldwell college, studying psychology and gerontology. Maria Also worked for the family business, Suk Farms in Denville, NJ.

 

Maria was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Mountain Lakes, NJ where she  sang in the choir and belonged to the Women’s Club.  She loved her music, both listening and playing. She loved to go to concerts and she was skilled at playing both the violin and the guitar. In her spare time she was a hospice volunteer.

 

Maria is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years Jerry Suk Jr. of Denville, and by her loving children Jerry Suk III and Susan Howard of New York, and Ann Marie Ficarra and her fiancé Robert Dangler of Rockaway. Her grandchildren Eric and Caitlyn Ficarra of Englishtown, NJ, and Emillie Ficarra of Rockaway, NJ as well as her siblings Rita and her husband Dennis Dolen of Parsippany, NJ, James and his wife Patricia Romeo of Morristown, NJ and Anthony and his wife Arlene Romeo of North Carolina. She also leaves behind 5 nieces and nephews and her grand puppy Trina.

 

Visitation will be held on Friday August 2, 2019, from 2-4 & 6-8PM at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ 07834 www.normandean.com.  A Liturgy of Christian Mass will be held on Saturday August 3, at 10:00AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Mt. Lakes, NJ.  Interment will follow at Holy Rood Cemetery in Morristown, NJ.
