Bernardine “Bernie” Andrews, 93, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, July 10, 2019.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 15th at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, Denville.  Interment to follow at Denville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the good work of the Alzheimer’s Association. Please share your memories here.  Her family will cherish them forever.

Bernie was born in Bergen County NJ and was one of five children to bless the McCaffery family.  After her schooling, she met a young man who had just returned home from WWII.  They married and settled in Rockaway Township where they raised their five children. Bernie was a wonderful Mother.  In the summer, she took the kids to the Mt. Hope pond every day.  She loved their time together and watching them grow.  She was social and a longtime member of a bowling league in Rockaway.  She enjoyed the friendships she made and certainly was a good friend to many.  She loved the holidays and having her family all around her table together.  As the years passed, she became the proud Grandma to twelve and in recent years she was crowned Great Grandma to fourteen little ones.  She was over the moon for the babies.  She truly was the glue that kept everyone together.  Although we are saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is at peace and watching over her family with love.

Predeceased by her husband James Patrick Sr., she leaves beautiful memories to her children Kathleen Elko, James and his wife Kathleen, Patrick and his wife Donna, Karen Hoel and her husband William, and William and his wife Kathleen; her grandchildren Michael, Rachel, Elizabeth, James III, Jacqueline, Joseph, Devyn, Tiffany, William, Jack, Connor, and Katherine; fourteen great grandchildren; her siblings Isabelle McDevitt and William Mc Caffery and many more loving relatives and friends. Her brothers Jack and Harold passed previously.
