Obituary of Barbara Gerstner
Barbara Ann Gerstner passed peacefully at her home on May 8, 2019. She shared 81 years of love and laughter with her family and friends. Friends and relatives may visit on Monday, May 13th from 4-7 pm at the Norman Dean Home for Service, 16 Righter Ave. Denville. A Funeral Service will begin at 7 o’clock that evening. Donations in her name may be made to the good work of the Alzheimers Association by way of www.inmemof.org
Barbara was born in East Orange in 1937 and was one of two children to bless the Hellman family. Her husband Conrad and she settled in Denville, where she ran their family business, Gerstner Cash Registers. She was a devoted wife of 50+ years and a loving mother. She was an avid reader and had a great talent for sewing and decorating her home. Above everything, Barbara loved her family. She was a proud grandmother and great grandmother. She had a very special bond with her grandsons and even more so with her daughter, Pamela. There is great comfort in knowing she is reunited with Conrad and watching over her family with love.
Predeceased by her husband Conrad (2008); her son Stephen (1961) and her brother William Hellman; she leaves happy memories to her children Jeff (& Diane) Gerstner and Pam Gerstner; her grandsons Matthew & Eric, great granddaughters Riley & Kennedy; sister in law June Hellman, niece Jennifer (& Brian) Shook; and many more dear friends. Barbara’s family was very blessed to have Emiline “Emily” Thompson who lovingly cared for their Mom in her final years.
