Obituary of Rose Barbarito
Rose Barbarito (Ranieri) passed peacefully on Wednesday, April 10, 2019. She shared 91 years of faith and devotion with her family. A service will be held on Monday, April 29th at 5:00 p.m at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville. Friends and family may visit between 4-7 pm. Donations in her memory may be made to Daughters of Israel, by way of www.inmemof.org where she was lovingly cared for during the last several years of her life.
Rose was born in August of 1927 to the late Giuseppe and Teresa LaCava Ranieri. She was born in Borgia Calabria, Italy, the youngest sister to brothers Joseph and Domenico. As a young girl she emmigrated to the US. She immersed herself in the english language and became a self taught, bright young woman. She was extremely well read, a lifetime devout Democrat and followed politics with a passion .
In 1952 she married Patrick Michael Barbarito to whom she remained devoted until his passing. They settled in Paterson where they raised three children. In their later years they lived in Morristown and Denville. Rose encouraged her children to be independent and self sufficient. She kept up with current events all of her life and read the NY Times religiously.
Her biggest accomplishment was her family. Her legacy will live forever in the devotion of her children to their parents and the creation of the strength of the relationship of her children who have an unbreakable bond. She was a devoted grandmother. With the birth of her first grandaugher, Jacqueline Rose, her world centered on loving and caring for her. Although we are saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is at peace.
Predeceased by her husband Patrick (2016) and her brothers Domenico and Joseph; she leaves her children Paula Barbarito Levitt (Marc), Patricia M. Barbarito, Joseph Barbarito (Zoe); her grandchildren Jacqueline Rose Barbarito ( fiance Bryce Scholar), Shoshana K.T. Levitt, Victoria Marton, Zola Barbarito, and Kaila & Kiara Santana; and many neices and nephews both here and in Italy.
