Martha Duckworth

Obituary of Martha C. Duckworth

Please share a memory of Martha to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Martha Cleo Duckworth, of Morris Plains, passed away peacefully after a courageous lifelong battle with diabetes on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Morristown Medical Center. She was 77 years young.

She was born and raised in Cumberland, Maryland to the late Stanley and Goldie Oldaker. Because of her upbringing, Martha learned very quickly how to be a moneymaker and more importantly, how to save. An amazing mother, she always strived to make sure her children had a better life than she did – and she was very good at that. Martha was a very hard worker and dabbled in many things including real estate, owning an antique shop, and most recently, she was an accountant for NJ Transit in Newark. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Martha knew she was always dressed to nines, looking classy and elegant. She was a generous woman who loved dogs, music and singing, antiques, and traveling, her favorite place to visit was Italy. She was a fighter with a wonderful sense of humor and we will always treasure her in our hearts; she will be sorely missed.

Predeceased by her beloved daughter Paula Callesøe, she leaves a legacy of unconditional love and dedication to her adored daughter Marsha Bonforte; her loving son-in-law Lawrence Bonforte; and her devoted grandpup, Geezer.

Relatives and friends are invited to join in celebrating Martha’s life on Monday, March 18th starting at 10:30 am for an 11:00 Memorial Service at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ 07834. Memorial Donations are being accepted to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation by way of www.inmemof.org. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share a special memory for her family.
