Obituary of Walter H. Franz

Please share a memory of Walter to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Walter H. Franz, of Denville, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s on Friday, February 8, 2019. He was 79 years young.

Born in East Orange to the late Carl and Charlotte Franz, he was raised in Parsippany. After graduating Boonton High School, he made a very successful career in electronics, working primarily as an electronics assemblyman at Boonton Electronics, PerkinElmer, and eventually retiring in 2005 from RFL Electronics, Inc. in Boonton Twp. after 20 years of service. Known for his ability to fix anything mechanical or electrical, he frequently came to the aid of friends, neighbors and family, putting to good use his wide and eclectic collection of tools. His main joy in life came from sailing on the water. He also enjoyed amateur radio, photography, bicycling, building and flying model airplanes. Above all else, he was a fantastic husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will forever be treasured in our hearts.

Predeceased by his sibling, Mary Ellen Rowehl, he leaves only joyful memories to his beloved wife of 50 years, Carolyn; his adored son, David Franz and his wife Alison; his treasured grandson, Dylan; his caring brother, Carl Franz; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

A Funeral Service will take place on Thurs., Feb. 14th at 11am at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Randolph. Family and Friends are welcome to celebrate Walter’s life on Wed., Feb. 13th from 6 – 8 pm at the Funeral Home. Memorial Donations are being accepted to Donation Processing, The Michael J.
